I've only managed to view the site today, due to it being so popular. There's some cool stuff there.

Well done ernie90125!

He and I have been in contact...however, sadly his trailer will not be appearing on my website.

He sent me a link to where I could download it and view it, which I happily did. I liked the premise he set out, and some elements of his trailer. Sadly, the majority of it was footage taken from the Space Channel original series broadcasts. He's not the first to use some original footage...which I don't mind.....however the majority of his fanfilm was taken from the show.

I raised legimate concerns with him over the problems of using so much copyrighted footage might lead to. Elsewhere on his website he has a re-edit of Saga of a Star World. When someone re-edited The Phantom Menace they received a legal case from Lucasfilm. My website only links to files...so I was expressing my concern for his benefit.

I suggested a re-edit to reduce the amount of copyrighted material in his BSG/SAAB crossover....and I said I'd do all the work. He consented. I spent a number of hours converting file formats, and editing out original series footage....and material from other people's fanfilms he'd used (inc. Titon's) and finished with a very concise faster paced trailer. I really liked what I had done.

Prior to sending it, I had an e-mail from him asking if my concern had been a polite was of asking if what he had done was not up to standard as is ?......not so I replied. My concerns were the use of copyrighted material totaling well over two thirds of the total running time. He said he's be fine with me showing my version as an "improved interpretation on this premise"

He saw my edit....and said it was good....but then withdrew his support and consent to it being used. He also does not wish to participate or endorse my website through allowing anything to be used. I'm really not sure about this guy...his site is very basic....his fanfilms mostly made from editing....yet he gets precious, changes his mind and I think is a bit of a time waster.....

Somehow I think my site will survive without his contribution.....even though I would have liked a crossover with a good premise, it leads me to set a new rule that you can't just edit other people's work and claim it a fanfilm....oh yeah.....and don't waste my time.....

I'm sorry to both sides that things didn't work out.

Both ernie90125 and YoungDaggit have been more than polite to me and I greatly appreciate that.

I hesitated on posting because I have always believed that ignoring the negative and focussing on the positive is always the right way to go and even though things didn't work out, The fan site is an awesome Idea in showing just how dedicated the fans are to having a continuation of the original Battlestar Galactica. It show's that we haven't went away or backed down from our campaign to bring her back in a way that original and new fans alike can agree on for the most part.

There are many ways to bring her back and the fan film site touches on a lot of really great ways to do as such. The SAAB BSG cross over is just one of many but as one who is married to a number 1 SAAB fan who is driving me crazy because she is finding it hard to get her hands on the new DVD SAAB box SET, I have to say that going in this direction was a really cool Idea I never thought of.

Lets move on and keep showing the world that we won't go away or back down and keep up the great work with that awesome site ernie90125.

Some day we will have her back and as this site shows, in many ways we already have.

The official Battlestar Galactica website, owned by Richard Hatch is now running the launch of the website as a news item.

An update to the website is starting to become due...

I am out of the country on a family holiday over the festive period, so it will have to wait until the New Year.

That works out OK....as hopefully Sandy's first audio episode may be complete by then, and Warrior may have a chance to re-render the animation he mentioned in another thread. A January update will hopefully include up to six new items....and various other endevours will be further down the line.

Several people have remarked that there are far more BSG (TOS) fanfilms than they realised. That was basically the aim of the site....to raise awareness of how many there are.....Over the next year, I think we can look forwards to another dozen additions....over doubling the current number on the site....

Then in 2007 when Tom DeSanto's success gives him the power to being BSG back, he can show the site as an example of fan dedication...should he so wish....
