Default Richard Hatch has Passed

Sad, tragic, and shocking news:

http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment...ead-at-71.html

I met Richard several times over the years at local conventions. Always a gracious signer, his vision of a continuation spurred many of us to dream and hope for the Battlestar we wanted. Eagerly reading all his Battlestar novels, comics, etc., I am glad I had the privilege to be a part of the sharing of his time with his fans.

He seemed a genuinely kind and gracious individual, with never a bad word to say about anyone and always willing to take the time to help others. The universe is a darker place with his passing today.

Sigh. Rest in Peace, Richard. Thanks for the many hours of enjoyment I received watching you as Captain Apollo.

I am so saddened to hear of the death of my good friend Richard Hatch from pancreatic cancer.

I was first in contact with Richard when I made the www.battlestarfanfilms.com website, which was really just a hosting space and front end to display fans' creativity.

But our conversations continued and led to me booking him on a British convention and during the same trip recording a 2 CD audio book of his Battlestar Galactica memoirs called "From Apollo to Tom Zarek" in a studio in Leighton Buzzard.

My favourite parts of the sessions were not in the recording studio, but walking along the Grand Union canal and evenings in restaurants talking it all through.

Our Skype discussions continued and I sincerely appreciated his guidance, insights and advice on my aspirations to bring about an audio book continuation of the original series of Battlestar Galactica. My ideas were like what Big Finish had done for Dr Who fans.

When the audio book license conversations with Universal weren't successful, we agreed to develop general sci-fi stories featuring his Battlestar cast mates and he introduced me to them all so willingly and graciously.

Richard had approved my script for the audio book "Convergence and Divergence" in autumn 2016, so we were looking forward to making it this year and possibly working on a Great War of Magellan audio book too.

Rest in Peace...oh, and by the way Richard...thank you...

I haven't been here for 10 years... with a heavy heart, I return just to say 'thank you, Richard' and RIP.

Apollo shall live forever in my heart...
