Oh, yeah. Lee Stringer posted that link to his pics over at Resin Illuminati - Galactica New Series Reference Forum in one of the threads a couple of months back. They're of a CGI model he made for possible closeups, but he said it wasn't used while he worked for Zoic.

Note that there are no intakes on the bottom of the hull.

Still nice to see it.

Ironically, I visited Lee's office at earlier this week. Nice group of guys working there and they have an amazing 3D trailer that is really mind blowing.

You've got to love a place that has a Naboo fighter hanging in the lobby.

All my best,

Russell

Oh, man! I'm jealous you got to go to his offices! Both because of what all I'm sure you saw there, but for the fact you got to make a trip to Singapore!

OK, you've got me over a barrel. I thought Lee was working at Dave's School in Orlando, ... and the folks I spoke with talked like he was still part of the team. We mentioned him in the conversations as we were discussing a project. I confess, I didn't actually see him but I didn't see several of their folks as we only interrupted one of the classes.

I won't overlook my own stupidity but if these guys allowed me to believe that Lee was part of their team and he isn't any more, then that's a red flag in my book and I'd like to know that before I go much further. Truth be told, Lee's name came up only briefly when we were talking about the history of CG, getting gigs from Florida, and folks we knew so I can't say they directly said Lee works here and he'll be helping with anything that we get going but if I had a bad impression, I can't say they tried to correct it. I came away with some extremely positive feelings about everyone I met and am currently planning on returning for another visit with some other associates so if there's something happening here beyond my own idiocy, I'd like to know.

Does anyone have firm info on where Lee is hiding out these days? Feel free to PM me if its something that shouldn't be posted in the open.

All my best,

Russell

What Don said! He's living in Singapore and enjoying the heck out of it, last I heard. Check out the rest of his Flickr account, as he's got a number of pics from there.

BTW, he posts somewhat regularly at Resin Illuminati, under the username of LeeS. He just finished a physical model of the bomb from Dark Star a couple weeks back.

It's possible that Lee has kept his associate w/the DAVE School, I guess? Perhaps he helps them out quite a bit, even from afar?

BTW, I wasn't meaning to sound like a "know it all" in my first post of the thread. I was just excited to see those pics again, as I love the way that particular CGI model turned out. Just awesome!

Don and Griff,

Thanks for the info. We've got a return trip to Dave's School later this week. I'll keep this in mind when we talk to these guys.

All my best,

Russell

Thank you Don.

Also, I went to Dave's School again today. Saw the pre and post-production stuff from "Special Delivery":

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgYpQufskqU

We also got a good rundown of a lot of their other past projects. I also got to see thier versions of the Cylon Raider and Viper models, which looked nice and clean to me.

Lee was again mentioned liberally. They clarified that he was in Singapore and detailed the gig he'd gotten, which sounded pretty cool to me. I feel better now and believe the previous miscommunication was likely my own assumptions.

All my best,

Russell
