Default Galactica movie poster

I thought it'd be fun to put together a TOS movie poster more in line with today's style. It's actually more a poster for the series than the theatrical release of the pilot. I just love the title graphic. It just seems so 70's to me I hope you guys dig it.

A 789x1288 version is available here:

Fragmentary, that's fantastic!

Could you do one for the Direct-to-DVD campaign?

Best,

I soo want to feed it to a A2 printer and hang it on the wall!!

Talent like this should be stretched..
I think you should do a series of them, one for each episode...

Now theres' a thought: video/DVD covers....

Your stuff would beat the pants of the commercial vidoe covers out there already.. make good replacements, and I'd print yours off and put them on my ex TV Video copies in an instant.

Something to get people visiting the rest of the sites, or CFF, or...

Ohh, please have a go.....

Cheers,
Lara

Frag, the one thing I did notice was the connectors in your BSG logo, which are a bitch to get right. it doesn't help that there are two versions of the font – Battlestar and Viper Squadron.

The top one was done in Viper Squadron, with the top line in Viper Squadron Solid. The bottom line was typed using: galACticA. Note the combination of upper and lower case. The joining of letters has to be manually adjusted in Photoshop within the character tools window and negative letter spacing to get it right.

The bottom logo used the traditional Battlestar font with the top line typed as: BATtLEsTAR, and the bottom as: GALactiCa. Ditto for the spacing as in example one.

In the end really, it's a matter of personal taste.

I'll PM you with my DVD cover idea if that's OK.

IMO your poster is better than the TOS DVD boxed set cover art that's out there.

Best,

Peter

Thanks Peter
You're right about the connectors on the letters. It's funny, I was having so much fun trying to make it look like the style of a logo from the late seventies (disco gold ) that I didn't even notice the letters that are off.

Do you have a link to someplace that I can get Viper Squadron font from. Having that "solid style" would be pretty cool.

Lara,
Glad you like the pic. As for the idea of doing DVD/video covers for the existing releases, you're forgetting to factor in my inherent laziness It is not to be underestimated.

Thanks again guys

Laziness? No.... its really just eco friendly energy conservation, thats all

In your own time, at your own pace, will be fine...

I love the poster, have you thought about doing one in your Battlestar Anime style?
