lost horizon
Lost bears some similarities to Lost Horizon, both the James Hilton novel and the two versions of the movie. That scene last Wednesday of Michael designing the aqueduct, creating a way for them to have running water, is from Lost Horizon.
I also think the character of Jack is similar in some ways to Robert Conway, the main character in Horizon.

Matthew Fox, who plays Jack, will be a guest on the Ellen Degeneres Show, which airs at 11 p.m. Eastern time on Tuesday, Nov. 23, on Oxygen. It's a repeat of the regular broadcast which ran on local stations last week.

hair
Okay, so they've been on the island for several weeks now, and all the men have major 5 o'clock shadows. So how come none of the women have any leg hair (or facial hair--yes, Hollywood, it does happen) yet? Or did all of the women get electrolysis before they boarded the plane?

Ahh! Excellent query Skippercollecto! Probably for the same reason that all TV and movie women wake up in bed fresh in the morning with their make-up still on, hair perfectly set, and of course, in the perfect pose!
When was the last time you saw a female star in a show go to bed without her lipstick and mascara still on? Yeah, maybe on a first special date -- but not after being together for months or years!
I guess only guys scratch their tushies in Hollywood!!! LOL!!!

Ya I always love that stuff too! if only we could have that happen in real life! no drooling, no "sleep" in your eyes no morning breath, no messy hair... yup that would be cool!

We've actually seen a couple of the men shave during the show, so I would guess that at least for now, shavers are viable. As for that time of the month and birth control, I'm sure Sun has some sort of ancient mystical Korean herbal extract for all of that.
More importantly, why the heck are Locke and Boone keeping what they found a secret? And what exactly did they find? I can't wait for next week, I need answers now!
Oh well. I guess I'll go shave.

Now stop goofing off and tell me why Boone and Locke are keeping secrets? I mean, doesn't Locke have enough secrets already?

LOL the whole Island including ALL it's inhabitants are a mystery! I thought the thing was a door leading to an underground room or passageway. As for why they kept it a secret I can't say. Locke is a very secretive person though.

That's the kind of forward thinking TV needs more of. A few more ideas like that and you'll be running ABC in no time.

Well... who called it?
Did y'all guess that the brother and sister had been lovers?
did Y'all figure out she wasn't really dead ?
Still intrigued by that hatch!!
I love that they never show you anything that it's all left up to our imaginations!! kind of reminds me of when I was a kid and listened to radio dramas.

After a 1x viewing: The brother and sister thing was sick. Hope that was part of the hallucination too.
Any one have any feelings about whether the old guy that's obsessed with opening the hatch, is good or evil? he sure gave me the creeps.

Locke is a good guy! I think he's the only one that gets (understands) the island. He gave the kid the oinment on his open wound which allowed him to halucinate. It was sort of like a First Nation Peoples vision quest kind of thing like using Payote. It allowed Boone with Lockes help to realise what he needed and that was to let go of those feelings for his step-sister.
As for the sister/brother thing they are adults and only step siblings there is no blood relation so it doesn't bother me
