Man, that's a cute pic, I better not let the missus see it or she'll want one... Then again, we went to the local animal shelter this week and got to visit some cats, one of which took to me in a heartbeat (doing the whole purring, paw kneading, face rubbing thing) for about 20 minutes, but yet took a gentle swipe at her and farted (LMAO) when she picked her up...
Hey, what can I say, chicks dig me
Probly wind up getting her in a few weeks hopefully...

gunnerk19 that reminds me of when my boyfriend and I went to look at dogs at the local shelter. The dog I wanted and was trying to convince my boyfriend to get lifted his leg and peed all over my boyfriends leg...the dog has been a beloved member our family now for the past two years.

OK, I'll admit it...
OK, I'll admit it... I'm a "cat person" (as opposed to a dog person). I've owned quite a few cats over the years and even witnessed the birth of at least 4 litters of kittens.
I haven't owned a cat for quite some time now - my housemate had 2 cats, but they have since passed on at the end of very long lives. I tried to introduce a new feline pet into the house, but my housemate's dog would have none of it - it can be likened to a "life or death'" situation - the cat's life.
I really miss having a feline freind around - they are so sensitive and caring. I know that they have their "moods" but so do people - I think that's why I like them so much. There is an animal adoption center not far from where I live - I can't have one because of the dog, but I do like to go there to get my cat "fix".
One of these days, I'll be in a position to have another, but until then, pics like the one that Tom showed us will have to do...
Best,
Bryan

Bryan...
I can't imagine being without a cat! I have 7 right now. I have spent a total of maybe 7 years of my 40 without one and have had more than 5 at a time for the last 16 yrs! course I also got my fix working at a veterinary hospital. Almost every cat I've owned was a rescues stray I have never bought one

I am a self confessed kitty nut! After the having to give up my beloved Persian, Tia because I moved in with my fiance and we are not allowed to have cats or dogs in the condo I kept her tags. I carried them in my purse for weeks. Shortly after giving her up she died from cancer of the kidney I put her tags on a grey stuffed kitty I had brought with me and named it Tia. She sits in my living room with my white "I You" monkey, an orange rhino and a large Winnie t. Pooh. But once we move to where we can have a kitty and doggie I am getting a kitten!

I had to turn down a part-time job as an Animal Control Officer for the department I work full-time for because I know myself well enough to realize that I would bring all of the strays home instead of to the Humane Society.
Actually, I still have trouble. I fell in love with one dog, but she was a female and my Shepherd would never accept another female dog in the house. She found a good home through the Humane Society.
And then I brought this ENORMOUS yellow lab who was wandering the neighborhood home with me and named him Moose (he was about 30 punds overweight and just the sweetest thing), but he had a serious cat aggression problem, so I had to bring him back to the ACO the next day. We did find his family but convinced them to give him up to a good home. (Their daughter had died and it was her dog. They fed and watered him, but gave him no attention. Dogs need a "pack" to thrive so we found him one in another town.)
And then there was the golden retriever last week. :sigh: I'm a sucker for a fuzzy face. I will give in eventually. (I like even numbers and I have THREE cats and only TWO dogs, so... well, that's my excuse... I mean my story and I'm stickin' to it!)

you are bad aren't you kind of like me that way. I adopted a lot of animals when I worked as a vet tech and when my girlfriend who is a vet (works in Oregon) was a animal control officer she adopted every animal until she found everyone of them a home she is a rea l crazy woman but I love her!!!
UNWW with regards to dogs that have cat problems it is possible to change that. One of the dogs I adopted the brown one she was a total psycho killer when it came to cats and squirels but with a lot of positive reinforcement and a lot of time and constant effort she is now completely trustworthy I can even leave her alone with all 7 cats and she totaly leaves them alone. It took me a year though to accomplish this!
what are younaming your new dog?

I didn't take the Golden Retriever, either. He went to a nice family with a sweet little girl who had just lost her own Golden. It was enough to bring tears to your eyes.
But, one of these days I will find another furry friend. Until then, five is enough (I don't count the darn flying squirrels that live in my walls and drive the cats and the puppy insane as I haven't seen one since the puppy moved in and went on vermin patrol. I can still hear them, though. :ugh: )

Don't worry, bsg, you'll be married and hopefully househunting soon. And then you can take in all sorts of furry faces, right?

The Animal Control Officer just came in with another unwanted dog! She is a Shepherd mix, almost 2 years old, and the tiniest, daintiest little Shepherd I have ever seen. She can't weigh more than 40 pounds. She had spent her whole life outside and doesn't even know how to sit. Fortunately, the ACO and his wife have already decided to take her (what's another dog when you already have four?), as I just cannot bring a female dog home to my alpha female Shepherd. (And if I keep telling myself this over and over and over again I might actually believe it.)

Actually the kitty to me lookks like its suffering some sort of emotional rejection by the chicks.
