What I want is a special edition DVD that has all the deleted scenes add into the movie itself.

I have seen it at the cinema twice. A very good movie, and I agree with most reviews that it is the best prequel but not better than Empire Strikes Back.

I have several major gripes though......

Anakin bursting into flames was an unnessesary shot, especially since that was one of the main causes it got a 12A (or 13 rating in America) It could easily have been missed out with the film loosing anything....

Anakin going over to the dark side. He was saying he did a bad thing, and just seemed to accept he was there....a bad guy.... Surely a little more would have gone into decision....

I would loves to have seen the Falcon taking Obi-Wan and Luke to Tatooine....then they leave on the same ship, thus coming full circle....I REALLY hope that is a deleted scene. (for inclusion on DVD)

A few of the scenes seemed forced slightly, I think it was a great film, but if he had shown it unfinished to more people, and listened to their feedback, it could have made for a stronger end product....

I think the scene was neccessary to tie into movies 4-6. In movies 4-6 we know that vader is mostly a machine, but we didn't know how he got that way.

Going into this movie anakin only had part of his body that wasn't organic. I don't see there was a choice but to answer the question of how vader was transformed from being mostly human to mostly machine.

The scene being nessesary I agree with. The actual shot of him being set on fire, screaming as he was burned was what caused the rating. That I didn't agree with....

One thing I had about the prequel trioligy was I thought Anakin took too long to turn to the dark side. To me it was dragged out too much.

I have some ROTS thoughts to add, though I am jumping in later in the convo so I hope this hasn't been said yet. Sorry if it has.

For 27 years long time fans like me, based on what was reported some time after A New Hope, have known that Vader's injuries came about after contact with lava during his duel with Obi-Wan. Now, after finally seeing it happen on the big screen (4 times for me so far), I am while enthralled by the duel and the way it ended, dissapointed in a small way.

I would have preferred it, if instead of his legs as well as his arm being sliced off by lightsaber resulting in his body sliding down the incline and his leg stumps being ignited by the lava, his legs had been intact after his failed leap and when his bldy slid down the incline his attached legs had gone right into the lava and been burned and melted right off his body as he struggled desperately to pull himself back. That would have been very cool.

Dooku was not important to the rest of the plot other than how his end was another step for Anakin, but I would have preferred to have seen him more involved in the beginning prior to his entrance, on the bridge giving battle commands, as well as some interaction with the captured Palpatine, er, Sidious.

For that matter, what was the whole point of capturing Palpatine in the first place? Why had Dooku planned and carried out such an operation? Since Dooku/Tyrannus was secretly working with and for Sidious, capturing him would only give him the option to converse and make plans with him directly, something that they could have done just as easily as Sidious had given orders to Grievous and the Seperatist leaders. So what was Tyrannus intending to do with the kidnapped Palpatine? Perhaps kill his own Master and become Master himself? Palpatine's goal, if he had enginered that operation himself, was obviously to lure Anakin there to "save him" and get the Jedi to kill Dooku for him. But aside from Palpatine/Sidious' intention for the outcome, for what reason would Dooky have gone alone with it and carried it out? What did he think he stood to gain for his part in the grand plan to turn the two sides against each other in war? I'm sure that the novel would address that, but I am curious as a film viewer and would have liked to have seen some of Dooku's motives or implied reasons revealed through dialogue prior to his entry to the dueling stage.

Dooku was a pawn. This was clearly Palpatine's play. Think about this: his term was already overextended. The only thing keeping him in power was the state of emergency (the Clone Wars). Knowing that his bid for absolute power was near, he wanted to win over the sentiments of the people -- as well as the Senate -- by being kidnapped and rescued. It would also make Anakin a hero, and inflate his ego.

Plus, it would be an opportunity to personally supervise Anakin in action, to guage his readiness. Was the time ripe to turn him to the dark side? Everything had to be timed correctly, because that moment of truth was going to coincide with the death of the Separatist leaders -- ending the war when Palpatine no longer needed it to hold onto power. He would already be strongly established as Emperor.

It was well done, continous action & good FX, even though we all knew what the outcome would be. Now he has 3,000 years of Jedi tales to produce.

Thanks Stray. I saw it again yesterday for the 5th time and I was thinking during the movie that I wished I could log on to GS to discuss the film with my long time SW buddies, only to remember that I could not do that. But at least one of them came here to discuss, you know?

Palpie casts asides his students whenever a more powerful person appears, granted Darth Maul was killed by Obi-Wan and then Palpie was forced to find a new one. But when Anakin grew with power he wanted him and casts Dooku aside, he pretty much does the same with Vader when Luke comes about. Only this time he lost his student not to death, but to the Light Side

In my opinion, the movie was good in some areas, and disappointing or overdone in others. I won't be rewatching it. The two good movies are A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back.

I also like some of the Star Wars fanfilms.

Uhh, hmmm, remember the scene from matrix III when Trin was dying, It seemed that it has lasted for ever. I've found that also in the SWIII which was very suprising.
What I mean is the movie had to many boring scenes like those from matrix.
but that is my humble opinion
cheers kapollo

Ron,
The book goes into really good detail about Dooku and the fight between him and Anakin. Palpy is a master planner and master manipulator............he manipulated Anakin from when he was a small bpy. Remeber in TPM he said "we will watch your career with great intrest" to Anakin? He does set up his own kidnap as a way to open Anakin up to the dark side..........that is why he uses the information Anakin had told him about the sand people against him, and tells Anakin to kill Dooku. And then justifies it by tell him "it was only natural, you wanted vengence".........just like the sand people.........he uses everything(Palpy) It would have been interesting to see what Palpy was like as a child, Lucas made it a point to show Anakin was a good kid went very wrong. Palpy, I think was always very evil.

Ron, if you ever wanna talk Star Wars...................I am the sweek for the job
