It wasn't really that bad but the elderly gentlemen seemed to think that wages hadn't changed since the depression. We used to work all afternoon and watch him flip through his stack of twenties to get down to the ones.

We did it because he was an old guy that needed some help but I think he thought he was doing us a favor giving us the work.

My brother and I laugh everytime we think about it when he comes over for a visit.
I worked as a groundsman gardener as a teenager for a millionair who paid me 3.75 an hour I hear ya:laugh:

You're bringing back some funny (or painful) memories!

After my freshmen year in college I worked at Honolulu Airport for a luggage transport company during the summer. We were paid $3.35 an hour for the first 40 hours a week but got time and a half after that. At that time jobs in Hawaii were hard to come by and my girlfriend (now my wife) and her family all lived out there. The kicker is that the airport authority charged me $120 a month to park at the airport .

It all makes you appreciate what you have.

I dunno. I think Seniors' Memory Enhancement is beginning to set in. The minimum wage went from 75 cents to $1.00 in 1956. Does that sound right? I started out making exactly a buck an hour flipping hamburgers in 1968.
