Default Who are You?

You know, one thing that has always astounded me about this fight for Galactica, especially since the advent of the Internet (Yes Damn it, I'm Friggin Old, so friggin deal with it) is how little we know each other.

<---- In my Old Fart voice "In my day, we knew who our other Warriors were, now days, we post every day, and sometimes we don't even know who the hell we're talking to. Sometimes we don't even know if it's a woman or a man"

So, unless this is a completely stupid idea, maybe it would be a good idea to start "introducing ourselves" a bit.

Least of which, when this blasted veil of annonimity is removed, we know who our Friends are.

My profile is pretty complete....HHhmmm what could I add?

More about me:
Humorous, considerate and handsome, I enjoy the arts and theatre, movies, museums and long walks...no really stop laughing. A classy night on the town, a few glasses of Merlot. Im just as comfortable in jeans having a beer in some hole in the wall. I enjoy NFL football and national poltics, there similar games. I dont pay much attenion to other sports, because Id rather be outside playing, biking, running in the fresh air. A city boy(NY)who enjoys living in the country. I think its important to laugh, and to take the time to enjoy life.

More about my match:
Im looking for a women who is honest, confident, smart and carefree. Someone physically fit, with varied interests, and a great sense of humor. A women who is more Ann Coulter, less Pam Anderson

That Enough Dude?

Default That sounds like a plan

Sept.

Although, my "wish list" is kinda detailed. My perfect Match would be a Lady who looks like Joanna Going, she's got to have a Love of Galactica (and Sci-Fi in General), Shakespeare, old Black and White movies (specifically Errol Flynn, Bogart, Gable, and Veronica Lake) AND I'd really prefer an Artist-Type.

Also, and this is a BIG ONE, She shouldn't have more baggage than the Cargo Hold of a Cruise ship.

Although, I guess since I mentioned it here, I just pretty well jinxed it...

LOL! Hey, guys, my bachelor auction idea was well recieved, so there will definitely be *something* in the works for ya'!

Hmm. Single, 5'2", size 0, likes to hike, loves reading, museums, old architechture, scifi and humor. I'm a non smoking, socially drinking, tolerant vegan... lol. I really mean it when I say it's what's on the inside that counts. Values self-honesty and a sincere will to improve more than macho nonsense. Likes people who can see themselves as human first of all. (Airy fairy new age chick, lol.)

I'm a graphic artist, 46 years old, married for 20 years, and I have two kids: a son, who's six and a daughter who is 12. I do a lot of ad work, mostly freelance, and I spend my free time with my family, watching movies, going to the movies, or spending time outdoors. I've loved science-fiction and fantasy for most of my life. :colwar:

I am Dawg, the thread-killer.

I am as old as AlphaNova but often feel much older. I married scandalously 13 years ago and am now the grandfather of 3 (girls 12 and 7, and a five-month old grandson).

I write science fiction. I have absolutely no other "artistic" talents.

Happy to know you all.

Default Who I Am

I'm 35, married almost two years, no kids but a few horses, dogs, and cats...oh and one "aluminum horse" alsmost as old as me and who is happiest going 100 knots at at least 5000 feet. I'm head of the network group at a large university. I run long distances, enjoy beer, like to garden (trying to grow gords for the first time this year), and like some sciece fiction, mainly older mainstream stuff like Star Trek and of course Galactica. I got into science/engineering because I liked how Scotty always could come up with a solution.

Hello, all

Default Neurotic worry-wart

Who loves to live in the woods. Moved my family (wife and two sons) from in-town living to rural bliss (the sound of the tree frogs are magnificent). Took every penny that I had but was totallly worth the financial burden. Working two jobs, Creative Director for a small media company and freelance (graphic/web design) for trade show industry. My wife told me that I was the most unselfish person she'd ever met which was the best compliment that I'd ever received in my entire life. I do everything for the benefit of my children, I want them to have memories that they can cherish for the rest of their lives.
I consider myself fortunate for what I have been given and have earned. I hope that I can provide for my family for many years to come.
Love classic sci-fi and horror but I consider horror films a dead art though. Would have been so very cool to have Galactica come back like the majority of us, not happy with Moore's effort. Praying that things change!

Great idea, LSF!!

Let's see, I'm forty-two, married, and father to a wonderful 13-year old daughter. She keeps my wife and I very busy--we're soccer parents which translates to "no Saturday that you can call your own between September and June". We do enjoy it though. The other parents are cool and we feel like we've known them for much longer than the last 2 years.

After graduating from college, I lived on my own for about 7-8 years before getting married. Living as a bachelor gave me a real appreciation for housework. It is a real job!! I love the outdoors, especially working (landscaping) in the yard (and no I'm not on drugs)!! My wife enjoys it too, which helps loads! We aren't horticulturists, but we know what we like and we give it our best shot.

In my younger days, you couldn't keep me in the house -- loved doing stuff outside--bball, football, backpacking, rafting, you name it, but too many 2nd helpings since then have really gotten me out of shape. That is one thing that I'm honestly going to try to do -- lose weight!! I mean it! Ok, now I said it, that's half the battle; getting off my a$$ is the hard part!

Love reading, mainly sci-fi, sci-fact and history. Two of my favorites are Tolkien's trilogy and Roots. Even though the two stories are on opposite sides of the spectrum, both authors affected me the same way -- I couldn't put the book down until I finished it! I also enjoy listening to all kinds of music. classic rock, jazz, r & b, country, just about everything EXCEPT RAP. Just can't stand it!

My only connection to sci-fi, unfortunately, is from the consumer side. I have loved Trek since watching my first episode in 1971 -- "Mirror, Mirror"..Spock looked really cool with a goatee. Also enjoyed the movies, TNG, DS9, and Voyager...haven't seen much of Enterprise though. Fell in love with Galactica on that September evening in 1978 and still love it to this day. Hoping that we will still have some opportunity to change some minds. It's too good a story to be torn apart.

Hi All,
I'm 37 (until May 2) and am expecting to see you all at my (and was it Sept 17th's?) virtual birthday party held between May 2 & 17 at your local theater showing X2. Save those ticket stubs and visit LSF's tickethon site for more info. (heehee, had to plug that)

I've been married for 6 years, have a 2yr. old daughter who is just busy, independent, & her own person already. (Read that as: I will need much prayer in 9-10 years )

I'm a graphic designer, doing brochures and ads and logos. Trying to get my feet a little wet in web stuff. Other interests: Hardy Boys books, Kid's illustrated books, and horses, though I've never even owned or leased one.

I watched Galactica initially because I loved the FX in Star Wars and the same guy was heading the FX up. I suspect I became a fan at the 1st viper launch. But the story was more compeling for me than SW so I was a bigger fan of BSG. Plus I liked the characters better. They were more real to me. And girls could fly vipers: how cool is that!

I'm a latecomer to this fight. I only read Hatch's books last summer, gleefully discovering old "friends" did indeed continue to struggle on somewhere beyond the heavens. Then found this place in the fall and called it home, cause you all are very special folks to get to know. (Hope Darrell & Don don't mind, but their's is a fun fleet to inhabit).

Default Sept...

No mustang, a Cessna 172. I suspect the P51 isn't too happy doing 100 knots, likes ot go much faster!

But sometimes I do slide back into my seat a bit (not do to G forces mind you) when I "launch" :colwar:

I'm a spiritualist/mystic/new ager, a fitness enthusiast and personal trainer. I'm a fan of the legendary science fiction and fantasy writing of Jack Vance and the art of Frank Frazetta. I like to write essays on metaphysical topics and I love Battlestar Galactica. I believe my love for Galactica is rooted in a childhood need to gain some satisfactory closure from having my favorite show yanked away and replaced with Galactica 1980. I don't like David Eick or Ron Moore. I don't sing and dance and don't like to be around folks that do.

I'm single, 29 years old. I live in Milwaukee where the beer flows everywhere. Aside for having a particular fondness for good science fiction, I work in the Real Estate Industry, primarily with the listing of foreclosures. I'm an active Libertarian. For fun I like to go out to the clubs on the weekends, sometimes I post here after having a wee bit much of the ol' drop as I'm sure some of you may have been able to tell. I also am an artist,I work primarily with sketching and watercolors. I've built models and paint toy soldiers. I also have written a screenplay about a werewolf during the American Revolutionary War, as sort of a hobby, I don't really expect it to go anywhere. Also sometimes on the weekends I go Ghost Hunting, and am currently working on writing and illustrating a text book on how to ghost hunt. I also like downhill skiing, any kind of motorized racing expecially motocross, and hockey. I tend to read alot about Ancient Astronaut theories and ancient history, being fascinated with the origins of human civilization.

I'm terrible at these, I never know what to say.

I'm 37 (no I'm not, I'm 10), and single. Originally from Southern California, I now live in Baltimore with a small furry beast and some smaller aquatic beasts. I currently work as a pharmacy tech 4 days a week, and a cashier 2 days a week, but I've had a large and varried amount of jobs in my life, including a couple enterprises of my own. I'm addicted to the internet and to The Sims, I collect flamingo things, and spend way too much money on chocolate, I'm an amature photographer, occasional sketch artist, and a self-taught cook. I have two families, the one I was born to and a foster family, which give me a total of 2 moms, 2 dads, 2 sisters, and 4 brothers (2 of which I've outlived).

And I really am female.

Default Ah, just an old phart here

52, divorced, live in Las Vegas and work as an electronic technician for Aristocrat, 2nd largest manufacturer of slot machines in the world (right behind IGT - International Game Technologies). And, no -- a slot machine can't be "rigged" to win -- Gaming Control Board makes sure that the random number generator in each one works correctly.
Have worked for Disneyland (1970 - 1974), been a draughtsman, went into the Army (where I got my electronics training) and was in Germany for 2 years. Also worked for Hughes Aircraft and Raytheon. Went to Kuwait in 98 for Ratco and ended up not having a job when I returned stateside. Moved to Las Vegas and got the job with CDS (Casino Data Systems) who shortly after was bought by Aristocrat, which is an Australian company that's been around for 50 years (and I've beat them by 2 years <grin>).
Science fiction fan since about the age of 9 or 10. Watched all the scifi shows, including Dr. Who, Blake's 7, Red Dwarf to name a few of the Brit series I enjoyed.
Computer geek -- I build my own. Drink too much coffee and smoke too many cigarettes. Kinda quiet but when I believe in something, I fight for it.

There is only ONE Starbuck. His real name is Dirk. You claimed him when Ojai left. In very Large type.

He needs to make another movie.
I bought Alaska, just to see how he did. 1st time I've seen him just be a very serious straight guy with none of the usual Dirk charm to exploit for the role. When his kids get college age: I hope he gets some regular acting gigs: the man is a pleasure to watch. Even when he's not flirting with us through the camera lens. Just plain good at his craft.

Yeah, I saw him recently on "Murder She Wrote" and he wasn't playing the Starbuck/Face type guy. He was very good, and I was both saddend and happy that he was the murderer.

Hmmmm......................................

Well............................

I'm a b*****d (quite genuinely - personally and legally, so don't come after me for using the word, even starred.)

BA History (First class) from King's College London (to those in the know, while I was there it was in the top five departments in the country, so it's one of the few things I have a genuine right to be arrogantly pleased with myself about!)

Single, male, twenty-eight, really shouldn't have stopped wearing glasses, overweight, never learned to drive, works in lighting (the office side, at the firm with the highest staff turnover in five counties.) Unshaven far too often (secret beard lover, but never grows in right.)

Not many redeeming qualities there............................

However, avid if iconoclastic Battlestar Galactica fan who's just discovered that after years of thinking about, starting, and abandoning projects has just written more words of a Galactica fan-fic than for any other project he's attempted.

Yes, it is a continuation.:o

36, female, BG fan since 1978, madly in love with Richard since 1978 (my first real crush!).

Let's see - I have a bachelor's degree in music, I write Hardy Boys Fan Fiction (I've been working on my magnus opum of fan fiction - a BG story - for like five years now... no, Nathan, it's not close to being done, lol) I run a Hardy Boys web site (hardydetectiveagency.com).

I've been in the online BG community since February of 1993, when I joined the Battlestar Galactica Club while it was still on Prodigy. (and even back then I was tooting my horn fo ra discontinuation - four years before I ever met Richard). I have been president of said club off and on over the years.

I own all of the books, all of the comic books (well, except maybe two or three of the newer ones), and I have copies of all of the tv shows except for the one about Chameleon - which I keep missing! (Darnit!)

I'm totally into continuation. Continuation all the way. Must have continuation.

I live 1 hour south of jjrakman =).

Arthurian legend (Excalibur, First Knight etc.)....... satire...... modelmaking..... 70's & early 80's rock & pop (although now moving towards 70's disco & soul)...... three wheeler cars...

Well, I am not as exciting as most women.....I just try to keep myself happy but like everyone else I get sad and depressed at times....

I am 52 years old, but constantly told I look 40...... I am the second oldest on the forum.......so I feel like everybody's mom here.

I am honest, confident, smart and carefree.....(sorry, I read it in one of the first posts and couldn't resist)

Blonde hair (no grey yet, thank God), blue eyes, 5'7" now a size 14 -16.( I know....I've gained some weight....drat) I'd tell you my bra size, but I don't wear one since I burned it in 1968 at a rally.

In my younger days I flew Gliders. Today I swim, hike and canoe and whatever else strikes my fancy....or my daughter gets me to do.

I have always been physically fit and was going to turn to amature body building until my divorce in 1984. Now I have decided to get back into being physically fit and have taken the necessary steps after recouperating from shoulder surgery...besides I like my daughters taste in clothes..LOL

I own my own home and car. I have lots of pets.

I am a serious sci-fi junkie and a serious collector. I belong to two serious costumes clubs in which I have a cannon leather Klingon costume and cannon Jedi robes complete with a working lightsaber (you can see me at Dragon Con on Labor Day). I was the very first Trekkie and have seen X2, 5 times in the theater so far and my home looks like a sci-fi museum. I love Star Wars, Star Trek, X-Men and Stargate. I belong to a ST RPG where I am a re-humanized Borg drone, named 'One of 4.'

I am single and loving it. I have raised 3 beautiful children to adults (as a single parent), who support me in everything I do.

I have a great time in life and will live forever and be abducted when I hit 100....LOL

I have been a nurse for 35 years and have turned to writing and hope to be published next year. I would also like to get into acting.

I am an avid Battlestar Galactica supporter and do what I can for our cause....... and I really like being a part of the forum.

.......uh...............that's all.
