Re: The Lost Cylon
Sorry forgot to mention in the welcome to earth shots the credit for Lost City goes to Spacebones (Nuked city in render).

Re: The Lost Cylon
Your renders have a better reflective surface on the Centurion than NuGalactica was to be able to pull off. Some imperfections here and there would add a lot, but you've got a good start.
Their CGI people were good, but never really got the Centurions rendered well untill the end.
The Vue render is My favorite out of the bunch, the ball sockets at the hips show really nice in this one.

Thanks still new to this stuff and always glad for feedback. The Cylon Moon in vue 6 took me 17 hours to render on my Dell Precision 650 workstation with dual 2.8 xeon processors. I know render farms can do much better but the really cool stuff seems to take a lot of horsepower. I would love to get my hands on one of the new dual quadcore xeon rigs with a newer quadro setup but it is out of my price range at the moment. I also wish I could build models like Wil Jaspers did with this Centurion, he has some awesome skills.

Re: The Lost Cylon
17 hours?
I dont use Vue, I use Max and used to use Maya(at school). That seems like a REALLY long time for that image. are you using some kind of really high raytracing settings?
Maybe Vue is just slow. I'm thinking something like 20-40 minutes tops, possibly even less.

Re: The Lost Cylon
I did it with ultra settings and those are volumetric clouds. I think it was more the clouds than anything else. They do look good, and the ones I did with Max and Lightwave with just the model did not take very long.
