If I had a dvd, I coulda made it so much more accurate.

I have always felt that Buck Rogers was simultaneously one of the stupidest, and one of the most enjoyable, TV shows ever made.

The CORRECT ADDRESS:

Last week we posted this news entitled "Commentaries Cancelled!," which explained that Universal had decided to drop the planned participation of Buck Rogers stars Gil Gerard and Erin Gray for extras on the upcoming DVD set. That means no commentary tracks.

We suggested that fans who would prefer that the stars participate on the DVD release should let Universal Home Video know this, and do so by calling, e-mailing them, or writing letters. To assist with that, we provided contact info for each method.

It turns out that Universal is quite fine with getting these communications from fans, and perhaps interested to see where it leads. Today we received a note from them, saying that the street address we provided was NOT the best way to get the message to the studio.

Instead, they informed us that "In order to better serve the fans of Buck Rogers you may want to update your website to list the following address for any written correspondence:

Universal Studios Home Video
PO Box 224468
Dallas, TX 75222"

Remember, you can also call their Customer Service line at 972/293-5903. Or, you can e-mail them at UniversalStudios&Dreamworks@LEEMarketing.com instead.

On 8/17, the studio will finally (cross your fingers) release their Duel: Collector's Edition (SRP $19.98). Extras will include the featurettes A Conversation with Director Steven Spielberg, Steven Spielberg and the Small Screen and Richard Matheson: The Writing of Duel, a photograph and poster art gallery, the trailer, cast and filmmaker bios and production notes. Also coming on 8/17 is Sugarland Express (SRP $19.98) - no word on extras.

That's great and all, but where's the Flash Gordon, Buck Rodgers in the 25th Century and Dune special editions? That's what I wanna know.

We also have some new MGM announcements today. On 8/3, look for Recipe for Disaster. And on 8/24 the studio will release a double feature of The Night Stalker/The Night Strangler, along with The Apple, Chastity, Good Times (Sonny & Cher), Joyride, Roller Boogie, A Small Circle of Friends, Smile and Zachariah, as well as a trio of full frame/movie-only titles in its "Hannibal Lector Series" at SRP $14.95 each: Michael Mann's Manhunter, Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal.
