The Hollywood Reporter
With Miramax's CHICAGO earning over $150 million domestically and the success of Fox's MOULIN ROUGE, Hollywood musicals are back -- so it makes sense that the dust is being blown off the greatest of them, GREASE.
Paramount Pictures is finally confirming that it wants to make GREASE 3 and get the first film's stars to reprise their roles. Instead of being Pink Ladies and greaser T-Birds from the '50s, Olivia Newton-John, John Travolta and the other cast members would be middle-aged parents to kids in the late '70s disco era. Hey, it might even give Olivia a chance to croon "Xanadu" again.
Paramount is seeking writers to pen GREASE 3 and once the script is done, they'll hand it to Travolta and Newton-John. Didi Conn, who played the character of Frenchie in both GREASE films, is onboard as an executive producer.
