LOL Fantasy Airplanes

Fantasy Airplanes

The most interesting airplanes are the ones that never got built. Some of these were schemes that were too visionary, some are found in fiction, and some were practical aircraft that lost out somewhere between blue sky and finished prototype.

Default One of my favorites....

While we're on the subject of fantasy aircraft, I thought I would share one of my favorites for the last 40 years:

It's the Fireflash mach 6 capable nuclear powered airliner from Gerry Anderson's Thunderbirds. I've always loved this thing - from the lounges in the wings to the "double decker" cabin design, to the pilot cabin in the tail section (instead of the nose). The Fireflash was featured in the first Thunderbirds TV episodes and once more later on in another episode.

I once thought about scratchbuilding my own from a Concorde model kit as the fuselage is the same profile, but found out that my kitbashing skills weren't up to the task....!

Very cool - even 40 years later!

Best,
Bryan
