It could be the basis of someday building a lightsaber. A unit that creates its own power and its own light, if you use your imagination heavily, could be the sci-fi explanation of how a Star Wars lightsaber might work. The only problem would be having to shake it for more power every 2-3 minutes during a duel with a Sith Lord, slowing you down and making you vulnerable during shake-time.
