Galacticruise: AMAZING!!!
I am way too tired to really write now but could not wait to start this thread. Galacticruise was amazing!
First, to my fellow warriors (Erik, Mark, Jim, Mike) CHEERS! It was amazing spending time with all of you.
Second, the cruise had a wonderful mix of people and actors. It still amazes me that on that huge ship it was so easy to always look around and see either other fans or "Galactic Celebs." For the week we were all kinsman. I will never forget sitting at the bar after just boarding and Erik realizing we were sitting next to George Murdock. We then had a great chat with him (George asked me to marry him ) and it was the perfect kick off to the week.
Everyone of the celeb crew was fabulous. I will try to post something on every one of them over the next few days. They are all so wonderful that the stories are really worth sharing. Just truly genuine people.
I am sure the others on the board who were there will chime in soon too.
Cheers!

Re: Galacticruise: AMAZING!!!
I am just barely beginning to recover! It keeps dawning on me what an amazing experience that was! To be walking down the hall and having Terry Carter say "Hey Mark! How's it going?" or to hanging out until all hours of the night with fellow fans.
Amazing. The cruise aspect was secondary to the amazing moments shared between the fans and actors alike. I miss all of my fellow warriors already!
Good stuff!

Re: Galacticruise: AMAZING!!!
Just for me personally, since I wasn't able to go, it would be nice if we could get some more pictures and con reports to share with everyone. I know that everyone's been saying that they've been recovering from their trip and whatnot, but it would be nice to hear and see some of the goings on.

Re: Galacticruise: AMAZING!!!
I'm sure there will be more pictures coming soon. I didn't take all that many pictures but there were a few people there who took hundreds!
I'm working on sort of compiling all that went on. The first night aboard (I missed the dinner on the Queen Mary) we had a cocktail party with all the guests. I'm not a drinker but apparently the staff didn't understand what I meant. You couldn't take two sips of whatever fruity concoctions they were serving before they had another in your hand! That's where Dy first introduced me to her new best friend George Murdock!
I was also able to catch up with some fellow fleets and prop board members which was awesome! How often does one get to throw out an obscure Battlestar reference and the entire room gets you?
After that I had dinner with Stu Phillips and his wife Dori along with fellow fleets member Mikedx. After that I got to hang with Shawn for a bit who put the whole shindig together. Then we headed to the Rotterdam bar towards the aft of the ship where I caught up with Kamikaze Athena and a few other fleets members just in time to watch Richard drink a shot out of the infamous rubber chicken! I'm sure pics will follow soon of that thing. You can find it in the above pic near the bottom.
After a few hours (and a few rounds of grog) there we all called it a night! That was just the first half day on board the Paradise!

Re: Galacticruise: AMAZING!!!
Sounds incredible monolith21, i'm very glad you enjoyed yourself! Hope your dinner with Stu Phillips and his wife was a good one cos Stu's a good man and i also enjoyed the time i spend talking to him when he appeared at Memorabilia also with most of the cast back in 2005, he's really down to earth and warm.
He also doesn't mind the fact that rapper Busta Rymthes used and remixed his Knight Rider theme for that music video he did a few year ago, he even joked about that one when i asked him him about it all.

Tom DeSanto is the man! Every time I see a little more of his vision for Galactica I just want to do whatever it takes to help get that thing made! It was very gracious of him to show up for the dinner!

Re: Galacticruise: AMAZING!!!
I have been intending to post a little something each day but being back to work is kicking me in a "no fun zone."
Anyway, since Tom has been a big subject thus far I will start there. This is the second time I have had the pleasure of talking to him. He really is a "fan boy" in the best sense. I know that to an extent he has to be "Mr Hollywood" but he has to genuinely want a continuation or why would he bother with all of this? Anyway, in looking through the volumes of stuff he brought and hearing his story straight from his mouth, I have to say that I am glad the man is one of us. If there is to be a continuation, I want him doing it. I feel that way more now than ever.
So the dinner with Tom was "pre-cruise" onboard the Queen Mary. Cool ship! Before that, Erik and I went on one of the haunted tours which was pretty cool. Did not "see anything" but I do have to say that there was a room that was pretty creepy. But that is another story.
So not only was Tom at our table but so was Robert Feero and Michael Swan. I wound up spending a lot of time with Robert. He is a very fun and animated person. (Who would have thought a Noman could be so entertaining?) In fact, I think that Mark, Erik, and myself (or some combination there of) escorted him to just about every event. Robert talked quite a bit about his roles in THX1138 and his uncredited role in Magnum Force. Robert actually lives about an hour's drive from me so I hope to see him soon.
I will try to post some pics of Robert in the gallery now.
More to come...
Oh yeah, and in reference to that rubber chicken mentioned before, I too have some interesting pics and video footage of it smoking. I have nicknamed it Lt Starcluck. I will add that to the gallery as well.
Oh! and regarding those drinks. How many girls can say Richard Hatch bought them a blow job? (Now that I think of it, probably a lot!)

I'm afraid not. The deal was for four beers and you only bought me three. Yes you did give me that Cuban cigar which I very much appreciated. But I only got to smoke a quarter of it before I had to leave and I left it with someone else in the bar. (If only I had known how ridiculously easy it would have been to smuggle the thing off the ship it never would have gone to waste.)
Anyway so one beer remaining, interest compounded... let's say monthly... I shouldn't have to pay for any drinks by the next time I'm in California.

I could easily come up with an entire stand-up routine's worth of material based on that sentence. But alas, this is a family site.

What makes that drink even funnier is the piece of rubber poultry Richard drank from next!
Oh and your name came up a few times regarding the pillow fights and what not Sarika. Also to state that we wished you were there to share the experience.
I have to go now. I'm going to start applying for credit cards in preparation for Erik's next visit to CA.

Re: Galacticruise: AMAZING!!!
Damn, you guys and gals certainly had some fun! The Galacticruise must have been the right and proper way for fans to get to know the stars after all compared to a normal regular comic conventions where they only see us briefly and we rush ourselves silly to try and squeeze too much to say in one sentence and come across all geek-ish. While i'm usually open myself to being me, and met most of the original BSG cast members twice or so. I always felt that i didn't come across to them well enough, except maybe Dirk and Richard who's are great guys themselves and truly are the open and honest types of actors who deeply appreaciate their fans!

Hope somebody passes on the news for Tom DeSanto to appear here in the U.K. again at some convention (not a showmasters convention though/they have a bd history [long story?]) Missed him when it came down to the X2 premiere in London's West End, way back in 2003.
I'd buy a laptop and make sure that if i caught him at a con, i'd help'em him post here on CF using my account!!! So he'd talk to you all.
Big if i know, but like Sandy i haven't met him either. But i did see Bryan Singer at the Superman Returns premiere and say hello and got a signature from him. And yes i did briefly talk BSG continuation with him on that hot summer's day in the crowds. I asked if he had a chance to do a BSG movie with Tom that he would, but knowing his schedule, he was probably being nice though. Seeing as we're all waiting for him to knock SR Sequel "Man Of Steel", out of the ball park (as you lot say over there) as he did with X2.
Alternity Orange, is that you?
You actually look alright to be honest, why so shy.
Tom's definitely a fan, nice to see him wearing the 25th anniversary T-Shirt. guess in real life he's nothing like 'Ari Gold' A.K.A. that dude from Entourage played by Jeremy Piven. Seems Tom can balance out the "Mr Hollywood" producer part of his life and be a well grounded fan pretty well enough.
But now on to some questions that need to be asked though....
1) What was filmed at this cruise thats going to be revealed to us fans?
2) What did Glen Larson say on the Cruise...? Did anything big happen between him and the other cast members far as his 2005 claims of doing a bsg movie related (and at the time) reported news.
3) Anything new crop up that fandom hasn't known before in the last 30 years.
4) Was Tom asked about his Teen Titans DC movie animated project. i'd like to know please!!!
5) What independent projects are the cast doing today.
I'll be back to talk to you all soon (i hope)
Peace
KJ
P.S. Alternity Orange. Does Tom (or Glen Larson) read CF at all?
Don't suppose any move was made by CF moderator folks who went, to organise some major event like an open online talk or anything.

Cool stuff!
Great quote from Tom, keeps the embers of hope nicely fed. I can be patient for the appearance of the right incarnation.
Too happy you all had such a good time to be harboring jealousy.. (who am I kidding.. I'm positively green with it :-) )
Cheers,
