A Prototype cylon?
http://www.wegottafindearth.com/prototype.htm
I found this on a page Darrel showed me. Don't know where this came from or if it came from Battlestar Galactica. All I know that is what is printed on the site.
But it looks like an old friend of ours!!!!!
Maybe they were working on another variety of Cylon? Or maybe this was a reject?
I would like to know more if anyone has any answers!

Probably wrong, but it sounds like the DeSanto Cylon version...."Roman gladiator type of ridge and a large mouth guard. It sounds weird, but it totally works. The Cylons in general look more villanous and evil than ever before. The costumes were also done in Los Angeles and planned to ship to the Vancouver sets". Or maybe the un-named original model owner of the DeSanto helmet, mentioned by several sites back in 2001, but never identified, sold his helmet.

I never liked that word replacement thingy anyways. I'd just as soon post "TOS" when I mean the original series and "TNS" when referring to the new series. Now, I have to type everything out just to make sure it doesn't get all wonky!
It works okay, but The Original Series is used when referring to Trek as well....

It does appear to be a costume based on the Desanto project (and I emphasize "based on")
The Cylon Alliance has an article on all the conceptual designs for Desanto's cylons at http://www.cylon.org/bsg/desanto-cylons-01.html
This one comes close but there are a few discrepencies in the helmet design. Based on what I can tell, this one's fan-made.

Yep. There are many unconventional designs that they planned for the Desanto project. Not that that's bad, just very different.

Notice how the 'eye slot' extends to the rear of the head. Hard to sneak up on a Cylon that can see out the back of his head.

I dont like the Ovion at all, but the Imperious Leader design was pretty decent. Otherwise Im pretty dissapointed DeSantos vision didnt go through.

It'd make a good alternative to the IL series head. I just never could get into the "head full of Christmas tree lights".

Two eyes and a red robe. Could have been a newer version of an IL series like Lucifer, perhaps?

What? the Vincent Guastini ones or the ones designed by Guy Dyas. I take it you mean both?
Trust me we all feel the same exact pain you feel when we think about this.
