Hey 'lil bro....yes, I have seen a milestone....wwwaaaaayyyyy back in the 1950s milestones were used on all of the highways so people could have a point of origin as to how far they were from the next town. Many people walked, and when they started to tire, they would say "Hey look ...we made it to the next milestone"
When Interstates were born, they continued them as a safety feature. The state troopers could find you easier if they knew what milemarker you were at. Now they have direct link phones to the State troopers at every third milemarker.... isn't progress wonderful?
