Screwing Around with the Gibbens Raider
I'm trying out this board so if I screw up the link please forgive me.
This is a mod of the H Gibbens Cylon Raider. Its not canon. I've been using a Revell model for reference and doing some kludges along the way to make the two fit together. A couple of the nurnies are pulled out of thin air where I couldn't make the CG model and Revell model agree due to space considerations, etc.
Its not accurate and I haven't touched the textures yet (this is still in the modeling stage) but it should be good enough in the end to fool the eye in animation shots.
If the pic doesn't work, you should be able to see it at ...

It looks really good so far.
What other mods do you have in mind?
Gatling guns in placs of the regular pulsars would look cool

Just detailing it
Hito,
Basically detailing out the model and doing some minor changes in geometry. I'll try to render out a before version so you can compare the differences.

Still in the Modeling Stage
Thanks, although I'm modifying the Gibbens basic mesh so no matter what happens he gets the credit for starting this one.
I haven't started on the textures yet. The underside is still plain (just started detaling it) and the aft detailing is way off. I just got some pictures to use as a guide there. I still need to do the nose detail. The Revell model differs significantly from the studio model. If anyone has a good nose-on shot I could really use it. I could also really use a pic of the Cylon emblem.
Does anyone know how the rear tube of this thing should be? The Revell model shows it as a turbo-fan of some sort but the pic I got of the upper detail shows it to be some sort of box grouping. (The angle is bad for catching detail on that side of the model).
Thanks in advance.

Give me a day or so and I'll get a couple of pics of the actual Cylon Raider models to you.
I can't vouch for the angles in the pics, though. Let me dig them out first. I'll post them here.

This is one of the actual Cylon Raiders from the show. I'll have to seek out a front view for you. I thought you'd enjoy seeing the detail on top.

Hey, there's an old friend i havn't seen in a while. H. does some good work. I remember speaking with him quite frequently while working a bit on Magellan. Very nice fellow.
Don't mean to steal your thread and of course my raider here is going through a refit as we speak but here's what i did a while back. Like Michael said, dirty that baby up! Looks good by the way.

Michael do you have a picture of the actual Colonial Viper Model from the show? That was the best ship on the show. Just think they were going to use the Buck Roger's Starfighter. Glad they chose the majestic Viper design.
