She is a light cruiser, she is able to launch 12 vipers and has 16 heavy guns, 1 heavy pulse cannon, 205 smaller guns. crew is about 1,500. her length is 3,500 feet from stem to stern. her role is to intercede and disrupt any attacks from raiders or missles.

That's awesome. I love that shot with the Galactica. Did you draw the Galactica also?

You can do work to almost professional standards with Blender (with a little practice), I would suggest you just jump in and give it a try (Blendernation is a good resource)

true .. and good to have you here as there are a number of CGI people here using different programs .. as you may have discover already
One of our most prolific is Stevew .. A truespace user .. man most of his stuff for Galactica is mind blowing .. I started on Truespace and my PC just about handle the details that he adds to them .. that before I move to Lightwave ..
Then there silentbobs landing deck animation in progress these last few weeks .. CF is really taking off with the artistic endeavours .

Ok here we go:
1, Open View and Background Image
2, Click on the hand next to the word image
3, Select the jpeg you want to use
4, Make sure the button 'use background image is selected' on the box in part 2
5, Press 1 on the numberpad (with numlock on)
You should see your image
For numberpad - 1 is side view, 7 is top view and 3 in front view.
I hope this info is what you want
