Ron Moore Speaks on the Clones
Ron Moore posted this on the Cylon Alliance but I think it applies equally well here.
http://www.cylon.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=885
"It's come to my attention that there is a group (or a person) out there cloning handles, faking support for me and the miniseries, attacking other fans, and generally being a pain in the ass for people.
Please stop.
Actually, knock it the f**k off.
You're doing me no favors by stoking the flames of anger and animosity which already exist among elements of the fan base even higher.
It's also just not cool and you should find something better to do with your time.
Ronald D. Moore"

Two Brain there's a word in that post that we try not to use here, I'm giving it the old asterisk edit....it's legal at CA but lets try to keep every one remembering to keep it a little clean at CF, kids may visit us.
(But Ron, the folks in question whom you were addressing: appropriate terms to use for them, IMO. Thanks.)

I think he used the strong language to make a strong point. Personally, I'm glad he addressed the situation in such a forceful manner.

I do have to wonder why he didn't address the situation months ago though.

I was shocked at the language he used. Moore is supposed to be a professional writer.

Don't be too shocked, Kingfish.
Profanity can be a powerful tool in language, just like punctuation. Someone who has a decent command of the language is able to use it to emphasize a point.
In the context of his message, the use of profanity is appropriate: the use of profanity on that board is allowed, the use was to place a high degree of emphasis on his point, and in dealing with the intended audience four letter words are probably what they understand the best.
You write in the language of your audience (or that Standards and Practices will allow).
I use profanity in my writing (and in conversation) where it is appropriate to the character and situation. He did no differently in this case.

Yeah, that is true... I actually met him at a Star Trek Con where he addressed the audience and also did a writer's workshop with Brannon Braga & Jeri Taylor. What stuck out was a comment that he made when someone asked about a ST:TNG episode, "Rascals" (y'know, the one where Picard and some others get turned into kids). Moore frowned, glared at the person and said, "Anyone else want to eat their liver rather than watch that again, cause I sure would!" Talk about callous...
Of course, how callous do you have to be to basically tell a fanbase to jump off a cliff if they don't like a remake (and yes, that's what it is!).
