This is a shot of my Konami Pegasus. The window lights (which I hand pixeled onto the battlestar), track surprisingly well.

This is a work in progress....part of a much more ambitious shot I plan.

And this time, I improvised a semi-steadycam. Placed the Pegasus on top of a disinfectant spray can, and placed my videocamera on top of a stack of PS2 videogame cases. I then moved the stack around the Peggy. and the results seem to have turned out a helluva lot better.

I really am proud of this one, especially the way the window lights track, and the engines glow.

Done with Sony videocamera, Konami Pegasus 3 1/2 inch model, Adobe Photoshop and Image Ready.

Very cool! Check out http://www.dvcamerarigs.com/ It is a great resource if you want to get serious about building insane pro camera rigs yourself. Do not order it off of Amazon though as you will never get it.

Just a low tech low cost suggestion. You may be able to use a lazy susan to achieve smoother movements. You could probably find one at Goodwill for a quarter. Put the model on the lazy susan, then with the camera stationary on a tripod, zoom out at the same time as you turn the lazy susan.

It's pretty impressive how the lights track in place. Though I'd go with a lighter color, something similar to what you've done with the engines, not such a stark yellow.

It's pretty cool to see someone do something with real models these days. Considering how small that model is, I'm surprised it looks as good as it does.

Yeah, I might not have it where CG is at, but I do love to see what I can do with models, especially so small a miniature as the Konami Galactica ships. I also have some Star Trek and Star Wars miniatures (including the Death Star) that I might have to try some fun stuff with.

As for the window lights, well, I just kinda went with what I saw on the show, (they looked pretty yellow, but that could just be my screen) but I might try something a little brighter and perhaps more naturalistic. Thanks for the note on that.

And thanks for the tips there, JJ. I shall have to look into that as well.
