Viper/Launch tube
Been putting together a launch tube to later work into some animations. It is not exact, and will still be tweaked, but I was trying to get something that would look close as a Viper shoots down the launch tube.

With all the, eh, interesting news of Battlestar Galactica lately, I wanted to do something to honor/remember the original.
Hope you like it,
Dave

Not to shabby there David. I'd lighten up on the motion blur but other than that looks cool.
If you want to get more realism in the shot take a look at my thread here. You can get a pretty good idear on how the tubes looked inside. That's IF your going for realism or for that matter if you want to. Let me know and i can give you info on the tubes themselves if need be. Here's the thread. In fact my work on this needs to be tweaked as well for better realism. But close.

Thanks Don,
Right now this is no where near attempting to be accurate. It's basically a few hours of quick construction/texturing to get something close to the "look and feel" of the tube in an animation.
The reason there is so much blur in the shot is because it is at the point in an animation where it whips past the camera and the camera is quickly turning to follow it.
Your tube is, well, incredible (that sounds wierd). The renders you linked to are beautiful and I think show how wonderfully Galactica can be authentically recreated in CGI. Now if only we could get a good revival to match your CGI work.
You've definately set the bar.

Great job Dave!!!
It looks very professional to me. I think you did a tremedous job. Have you a full animation sequence as either an AVI or MPEG.

Thanks Apothis
I don't have the full sequence rendered yet. The full sequence meaning working in the Galactica and other Vipers.
I also want to play with the lighting as well.
If I don't get around to the full sequence any time soon I'll at least try to render off the tube shot.
Thanks again,
Dave

When you get it done Dave, I am sure it would look great. Look forward to seeing it soon.
