"From what I quoted, all I see is someone trying to fuel some fire that isn't there.
Refrain from doing that please."

There was no "fueling the fire" on my part. I only registered my own take on what that kind of characterization can legitimately refer to as it was introduced by someone else and I stand by my own characterization of it completely.

KJ, very fine points. Thanks for bringing them up.

Gets my brain churning on some ideas....

If anyone has a copy of the CFF ads and will be at a Larson apearance, ask him to autograph it!

Default Hope Springs Eternal in the Hearts of Galactica

Fans.

Hopefully, Larson will deliver.
But he could come up with a bang-up story, special effects, and a movie that could make a couple hundred million, and there is still the chance that Hollywood would decide that they didnt want to make it. The fickleness of the film-industry.

But perhaps fickleness will work in our favor this time.

Thanks for the kudos Jim.

Dont' worry, i'll never stop working on the good stuff.

As far as the lobby goes Tom is one personable individual. I actually got to sit with him at dinner and show him a slide show from a laptop computer of the Galactica ships a friend and i have been building in cg. Let's just say we had an assembled crowd around the table. After that we discussed quite a bit about the new series coming out.

Around midnight a crowd of us went down to the lobby. The party up stairs got kind of stale. We ended up first with Jack Stauffer and his wife. Man is that guy hilarious! Anne Lockhart was there also. As the evening progressed the circle of chairs got bigger in the lobby. Tom sat in while we discussed alot of fun stuff. I mean the man even had on a TOS t-shirt! One experience i'll never forget.

Thanks for the story. Hopefully I will be able to see Tom at San Diego Comic Con in a few weeks. It would be great to see Peter Jackson team with Tom to do Galactica?

If I'm not mistaken, I believe you were off to the side of us at the CF table with Richie Levine? (when my photo was taken, that is)

Hey Jim... if you do get a chance to spend a bit of time with Tom, ask him if he saw the CFF ads and if he hopes to have BG in his future, etc

Can he confirm who actually owns the theatrical rights to BSG ?

Firstly it was said that Glen Larson owned them. The I think Richard Hatch commented that it was unsure. Then a lot of us started saying 'presuming' Then Glen Larson has given the impression one will be start in 12-18 months, but he's said that before, and before he was rumoured to have bought the rights.... Confirmation would be good....

Also, further to the CFF related question.....what in his eyes could fans npw do to increase the chances of getting a Continuation movie...?

Meanwhile, it's been 18 months since the announcement.

Does Glen really want to do something with his theatrical rights or doesn't he?

Not while he's collecting a royalty check, for doing nothing.

Now, when the paychecks stop....maybe then, we'll see some action.

Well its been around 18 months since i and other U.K. fans met Glen Larson and heard him say he'd do something with the Battlestar Galactica copyrights in 18 months time.

Time's up!

Guess between now and early January 2007 many serious questions will start to be asked of him on those developments!

Hopefully Tom DeSanto name will be raised when Larson talks of finding any producers or collaborators to work with etc when classic Galactica is brought up in any future discussions by fans and enquiring minds.

Come on, how can you even ask that these days, when there's nothing to go on. Since the re-imaginning came about, british and U.S. magazines and websites don't talk about the original Galactica's revival efforts not since post 2003 anyways after the sci-fi channel's mini series came out etc.

Just as i'd like to report on possible Classic Battlestar Galactica events, i can't if nothing swings by me or website links offer up nothing at all now can i? If nothing's revival wise is happening in a production somewhere's i can't report on it.

Not until Larson does something with the "movie series only" copyrights he currently owns.

After 18 months i wonder what the excuse is. I've got him on camera saying so at the London ComicCon in Earl's Court back in June of 2005. And even showed it to several of the original cast members at Birmingham's Memorabilia last year of all things, so its not like he could refute what he said. He's a nice gentleman don't get me wrong, but even several of the original cast of BG weren't bowel over to hear his claims last year either just as fans reacted to the news in the same way etc.

But until September 17th of 2008 rolls around, anything could happen i say. And since Glen Larson owns the film rights to Galactica. Any develop on it is bound to be continuation driven with some vast scope, budget and direction intended for it. If Larson's wise enough, he'll oversee the project as a creative consultant and let a talent person like DeSanto be executive producer and steer Galactica back to the big screen as big sci-fi action franchise. And an possible success will allow Larson to producer more of his famous and popular TV series to life on the big screen in future adaptations (if he regains the rights to them through various loopholes?)

Until i'm in range of a star from the classic BG series, producer/writer/associate at a event, film premiere, convention etc, and until something is going on and actually happening. I can't report on any continuation of Galactica period. Only thing i suggest is finding out what Larson's doing currently or keeping track of DeSanto during his Transformers webblogs on TF websites and ask him via online chats etc.

Try any tactic you can if you're near enough somebody from any previous revival attempts (Larson's or Singer's and DeSanto's BG) or know of some way to contact or talk to somebody who might know of their future projects, get close enough to an 'inside man' and you might be in luck at getting some vital information on what either man is planning ahead on, who knows?

Tom DeSanto probably going to conventions to promote Transformers sometime in 2007 before June/July rolls round. Fans might be able to meet up with him and ask him about any future Galactica development intentions on his behalf (if he still can?). And Glen Larson might be at events in and around L.A. which Cinescape and Cinefantastique like to keep track of, so there's always some opportunity to see a window of advantage in real life and ask these people in person.

And of course there's always mail (letters) you can post isn't there!

Even if Michael Bay makes Transformers a watchable big screen summer sci-fi action flick like Independence Day, which will have plotholes and something won't be quite right for fans of the classic animated series. Judging from the recent trailer though, it looks great enough to warrent major box office on opening day/week. So i'd day with that in mind, perhaps DeSanto should be asked one thing of the executives, once TF hits it big the studio should "greenlight" his next set of project('s) without any hesitation!

And surely reviving classic "Battlestar Galactica" as the next major epic sci-fi movie franchise, is at the forefront of his mind!

KJ

P.S. And i'd also like to know what original creation of his own would he produce himself that he'd like to do as a movie.

Well i still do give you fine people here at CF the heads up on entertainment news. I'm just not as frequent with it as i used to be is all!

Whether it be films, TV shows or animation, you know KJ knows something and is always on the look out per se.

I've got some recent Fantastic Four news lined up so stay tuned. I've yet to put out my long overdue Superman 2: Donner cut review and offer up a few tipbits to next years films and animation shows/movies. But i know Christmas will be lukewarm and posting online during Christmas will no doubt continue after Monday, so yeah KJ got a few things to run by you all if you're all interested!

Thanks for asking, as always Jjrakman you're cool!

Laters, and if it means anything to ya, *Merry Christmas*!
