A big loss to the TV industry. He will be sorely missed. I assume TVLand will do a tribute marathon. RIP, Mr. Spelling. My prayers go out to his family and collegues. BTW, I've read that an 11th hour decision was made involving the future of 7th Heaven. It was originally cancelled, but the CW has decided to add it to their fall schedule.

Sad to hear. Television's lost a true visionary and legendary TV producer now.

R.I.P. Aaron Spelling!

He's now trading Shatner stories with Gene Roddenberry. I was checking Mr. Spelling's list of credits on imdb yesterday. That's quite a body of work. I doubt we'll see the likes of Aaron Spelling again.

A force to be reckoned with in television? Most certainly.

A prolific producer? Oh, yes.

"His finger on the pulse of pop culture"? Without a doubt.

Visionary? Not so much.

He peddled to the lowest common denomenator and that doesn't take vision, that takes business smarts. There's a very old saying - You'll never go broke underestimating the intelligence of your audience.

Still - he knew how to put the shows together, and not all of them were "Love Boat" inane. He made his mark and was a genuine power in Hollywood.

Yes, he will be missed.
