Earthquake! How weird! We just had a pretty big quake as I was surfing CF! It's wierd cuz we do not live in an earthquake zone anymore (where we used to live we got 'em all the time). It was one of those slow, long lasting, wavy ones.
Ain't California grand? I just asked my daughter and she didn't feel a thing, so she has yet to experience one. But me, my chair was rolling all over the place!
Last big one I felt was the big 1989 Loma Prieta quake -we were on an overpass and it was so bad the car switched 2 lanes /without/ moving the steering wheel!

Probably not - the epicenter was pretty far south of Medford (and on the coast besides) to be felt there.
Yahoo's news has it headlined right now (that's how I know so much).

Hi Bsg! Thanks for asking, we're all fine. Actually, the quake epicenter was in Cambria, which is on the Pacific coast near Hearst Castle. I'm in the Central Valley directly east but still quite a ways away. I am pretty happy about how well our place seems to be built now - my office is sitting on a cement slab so of course I really felt the tremor, but upstairs my daughter felt nothing, and everything seems to have weathered it just fine.
This quake was a 6.5. For comparison, the famous 1989 Loma Prieta quake was a 6.9 (which the news mistakenly called the SF quake) did a bunch of damage to where I used to live. My computer system fell over and stuff fell off the walls. Roads shook so badly that cars skidded off the road in front of me.
I watched the news and they said the town of Paso Robles sustained some damage - a clock tower collapsed ("Marty! We gotta save the Clock Tower!" ). It is unknown if anyone was in the building.
Cheers,
P.S. Thanks for joining in Dawg!

Hi Octagon! Yeah, LA is pretty far away so I doubt you would feel it. Plus this was on a very small, previously unknown coastal fault line, so I would guess the tremor would not travel far like it would on the San Andreas.
Looks like California gets lucky again!

Whats weird is that I knew about it from Em, quicker than the news brought the story. You should go into reporting the news Em!

Great Christmas and a very quiet one and I hope my New Year will be the same...going to go look at cars today to replace my crashed one. My daughter found a Durango that she wants me to look at. They are beautiful cars, but they don't get good gas milage....only 14 mpg in the city....ugh.....

Well if things couldn't get worse for me it did. One of Kev's crowns came out Saturday we called the dentist and the blasted pain didn't call him back till Monday. Last night Kev went to the dentist and they put a temporary crown in until his next dental visit! Grr, I am so angry I could scream!
