Hard to believe that 2 original members of Santana went on to form a terrible sugar pop group known as Journey.

That is a total Julix question! She love's them! If I say anything about liking a hair band it will be for the hair and not the music! LOL!

Muffit:

Cinderella. Underrated. Love the way they spun their guitars around without ripping their hair out.

I don't remember what their big hit was - I will at about 2:00 in the morning, though.....

I wasn't a big big-hair band fan. I don't remember who did it - "Cherry Pie" - was it Poison? - saw it danced to one night. She was blonde. Permanently engraved in my memory.....

There were a couple other songs like that - Motley Crue, for example - that I liked.

Give me Led Zepplin any day of the week......

If you like Zeppelin then, you might like this --

I picked up an album, years ago, called (I think) "Guitar Heroes". It featured about 10-12 2-4 minute sessions with Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, and Eric Clapton. Nothing fancy, just seemed like they picked up their guitars and played whatever came to mind.

As far as Hair bands................
There were so many good ones, but VH1 did a countdown of the all-time best hair bands(based on their factors) and Poison was number one....I saw them in their heyday and I saw them 2 years ago and it was still kickin'
The song "Cherry Pie is by Warrent(the lead singer dated that blonde for awhile her name is Bobbie Brown, she first appeared in a Great White Video...also one of my favorites. There is also Slaughter, Skid Row, Winger(already mentioned Cinderella) and Whitesnake. Most all of these bands are touring again. Some are looking a little rough from their hard lifestlyes but they are still rockin.....probably better then ever...LOL...clean and sober now........
Dawg....Cinderella had a couple hits...the big one was "Shake Me" Now everybody sing.....
"Shake me all night baby shake me shake don't break it baby" and
"Coming Home"...."are you tough enough for my love.....im coming home"

Btw I got to meet almost all of these bands back in the day, because Dever used to have a Grand Prix and MTV covered it and combined some members of all of these bands with the race and of course I just had to be there and "Meet the boys in the band" Not only got autographs and handshakes but got to talk to em as well...(course the low-cut shirt may have helped a little, did I say that out loud?)

Journey....awesome band, awesome musicianship, awesome vocals. At least they did not try to depress everyone with some Prozac or Heroin induced tripe. Too many bands today cannot match their capabilities...although musicianship and vocals are just now finally starting to get around to something tolerable again.

If feelin' good ain't your thing....well, that's your prerogative. The world has enough depression as it is without current bands trying to bring everybody down.

It was funny, I think there was an interview with the lead singer of "Loverboy" one time (Mike Reno?) and he was asked about the band's possible longevity, and he replied rather sardonically: (paraphrased...not exact words) "I don't know. I don't think I can keep up with Kurt Cobain's negative lyric writing."

Nirvana....now there was a sissy band if ever I heard one. Little talent, nothing tangible or intelligent to say, and so laced with heroin...how could that band have become anyone's heroes? And poor wittle Cobain couldn't deal with the adoration of the depressed fans (which he seemed to not appreciate)...or Courtney Love for that matter...and shot himself. (Of course, if I had Courtney Love for a wife...I'd probably do myself in too. ) Yeah...great hero. I really look up to this guy. When I grow up, I wanna be just like him...pushing up daisies with no skull. (Maybe I could get a gig as a ghost at Hogwarts.)

I was in a band that played out on the road band circuit, and we had a bass player who was complaining about how people made more of a big deal about Lisa "Left Eye" Lopez's death...which occured in close time proximity with Lane Staley's (Alice in Chains) death. He was saying: "I don't see why MTV and VH1 are making a bigger deal out of Left Eye's death. Lane was a true rocker and vocalist."

I replied to him right there on stage, and over the mic: "It's probably because Left Eye wasn't trying to bring everyone DOWN into her world."

If you have a positive influence on the world, you are going to be thought of more than some heroin junkie.

Don't get me wrong, I too enjoyed Lane Staley's vocals. Alice in Chains had very unique, sinister harmonies and musicianship...but again, it was just more songs about heroin. (LOL! It was a running joke in a couple of my bands that whenever we covered any AIC tune, I'd preamble it by saying: "This is a song about ....heroin." ) Thank God we NEVER covered Nirvana.

Sorry,....I did not mean to turn this into a rant about who is talented and who ain't.

In the end....it all still boils down to opinions....and everyone has those.

My fave bands in the 80's were : Duran Duran, Journey, Great White, Whitesnake, Iron Maiden, Dio, Black Sabbath (with Dio), Van Halen (with Sammy Hagar), and RUSH (which has lasted through the 70's, 80's , 90', and thus far in the current millenium.)

Sorry bout the rant,
Martok the Classic Rocker

One of my favorites, a band I am really "high" on...Morphine.

If my life had a soundtrack, this would be it.

Drums, bass, and sax, with vocals.

Just by listing those things, Darth, I must say I do like some of your tastes in music. I love a good sax with music.

I got to check out the second link you posted. Wow...that is some goooood stuff.
Almost has a '70's feel to it. Really jazzy.

Do you like Sting, Darth? I would get the sense that, given the sites you just posted that you would appreciate Sting's work. Sting is one of my alltime favorites, and I cannot beliieve I failed to list him among my favorite 80's artists. He is one of my vocal influences.

And bonus points if you can tell me Sting's real name.

Respectfully,
Martok2112

I liked Sting's work with the Police, but some of his latter material does little for me.

I thought his real name was "Bellboy" from the Quadropenia (? was it that one?) movie.

Looks like that last link was a bit long, but works if you paste it to the browser.
If you liked "Whisper" then you should also like "I'm Free Now."

Thank you for sharing these links, Darth. Good taste....even though your cutz on Journey be fightin' words ....

Yes, a lot of people don't generally connect with Sting's solo works as much as they do with the Police. He was much more flamboyant and raw with the Police. I am sort of converse when it comes to Sting. I didn't really like the Police until they came out with the Synchronicity album...but when Sting went on his own, I really dug what he was doing, and also came to appreciate the Police even more.

And, BST, if you will be so kind as to provide the answer to my little trivia question?

Respectfully,
