Default VIDEO BUSINESS ranks BG:CE sales at--

--#19!!!

The November 3, 2003 issue of VIDEO BUSINESS lists BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: COMPLETE EPIC as hitting #19 for the week ended October 26. I'd have to say that's pretty damn good considering the hefty price tag. Other new title ranking:

ADVENTURES OF INDIANA JONES (WIDE) #1
CHARLIES ANGELS: FULL THROTTLE (WIDE) #3
ADVENTURES OF INDIANA JONES (FULL) #12
GEORGE OF THE JUNGLE 2 #13
CHARLIES ANGELS: FULL THROTTLE (FULL) #18

Way to go, BG!!!

Thanks for the info! I too would love to know units sold. Wonder where we could find that?

I was about to post that the "top 20" list didn't mention how it came to these rankings but lo and behold in ultra-small print, there's this:

"Video Business VHS and DVD rankings are based on sales transaction data and retail reports provided by retailers and suppliers."

Still not sure whether "sales transaction data" = actual $$$, though...

It would be great indeed if BG climbed this chart over the next several weeks but my experience with video rental/sales listings is that a video will either remain at the same # or drop (oftimes considerably). On this "Top 20" DVD sales list, two titles maintained their rank (2 FAST 2 FURIOUS WIDE at #9 and LORD OF THE RINGS: TWO TOWERS - WIDE at #14) and not a one rose up the chart from the previous week.

Oh--and IMO, a list like this should be "taken for what it's worth," so to speak. Another magazine/company may gather different numbers entirely, and in the end it's the boys and girls at Universal who will be able to say exactly how much $$$ our precious Battlestar generated.

If anyone's interested, updated, expanded charts are located at www.videobusiness.com but if memory serves you have to register or be a subscriber to their weekly trade magazine.

Oh, that's just too cool!

I keep hearing the buzz about how well the box set is selling in Region 1. (C'mon regions 2 and 4!) It's gratifying to see such positive results!

Thanks, JLHurley, for posting your message!

Unfortunately, the November 10 issue of VIDEO BUSINESS doesn't list the BG pack in its Top 20 DVD sellers (for the week ended November 2). Like I posted previously, it's extremely rare that a title maintains (or gains) in sales after its first week of release. From all that has been posted on this thread and others, however, I have a feeling BG did quite well and will continue to sell throughout the remainder of the year and into 2004.

Thank God for this BG DVD set. We waited far, far too long for all of the episodes to be released in some shape or form.

Default Charlies Angels Full throttle

Actually it is #3....the widescreen addition....the full screen is 18. So CA2 is basically out of strinking distance for BSG to come even close to Full throttle's massive sales........the movie is so popular both versions of the DVD occupies 2 spots in the top 20.....

George of the jungle though is another story.
