Default The Adult Male and the (inevitable) BBQ...

It's the only type of cooking a real man will do.

When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are
put into motion:

1) The woman goes to the grocery store and buys the food.
2) The woman makes the salad, the vegetables, and the dessert.
3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along
with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man
who is lounging beside the grill -- beer in hand.

Here comes the important part .....
4) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.

More routine....
5) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.
6) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is burning.
He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he deals
with the situation.

Important again ....
7) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.

More routine.....
8) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins,
sauces, and brings them to the table.
9) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.

And most of all ....
10) Everyone PRAISES the man and THANKS him for his cooking efforts and
the great meal!
11) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed "her night off." And, upon
seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing
some women!

Muffit -

I just love your stories! That was very good...

I'll let you in on somthing though, I can't cook on a grill to save my life!

Do it indoors, yes. Do it outside? Everything goes wrong - don't ask me why.

I have a lady friend that is quite good at grilling. When we gather at her house, it's exactly as you said, just switch the genders around!

Thanks for the giggle!

Bryan

Its good to see you posting happily again hun.

But personally I think the man did a good job of cooking. Anytime you can cook a meal that is edible and doesn't require the use of a fire extinguisher or the use of bandaids is a MISSION ACCOMPLISHED in my book.

...errr I burned not one, not two, but THREE grilled cheese sandwiches the other night while talking to a woman on the internet.

So it's the woman's fault the food got burned!

Don -

You missed a Fleets chat session once when John, Pete, Darrell, Tom and myself wound up having a chat about food, recipes, etc. You would have been right at home. I almost expected Julie or one of the other ladies to wander in and wonder what the hell was going on....

It really was a great chat session and as it turns out, there are a lot of men here at Fleets that are handy in the kitchen!

Best,
Bryan

Indeed. I must admit then, I'm not a real man. While I am quite capable at my grill, I prefer to be in MY kitchen. My wife (rest her soul) and my kids always joked about "dad's kitchen". Everything has to be "just so". My pots, pans, utensils. And don't let me catch you messing around in MY kitchen.

The kitchen is a woman's place? In my world, only if I let her in it. And if she's real nice, I may even invite her to play with the tools in the automotive/carpentry shop. Girls with power tools! Gives me goosebumps just thinking about it. hehehehehe

There are no men in my very limited family...what I do i've had to learn and I'm proud of it... I haven't found a man yet that wants to do what I do...LOL...although I am open to suggestions...

Muffit....

SO glad to see you, dearest friend. (((((((((MUFFIT)))))))))))
That was a very funny (if tragically, partially true) post you left.

For the record....ahem...

I am a great gourmet microwave chef. Yep. Just hand me a box of 40oz Stouffer's Lasagna (premade), and 20 minutes later....I have a meal fit for....me.

That's right, I am a "Gourmet Nuclear Culinary Artiste"

Love ya, Muffy,
Steve

Hi all my dear friends!!

It is /so/ wonderful to have such precious hearts to call my friends.

Dearest Martok, it is so warm-ing to hear from you as well

To all, a little Father's Day gift from this silly daggit, a little ditty I started last night, hoping someday it might pop up in a Narnia work of some kind, some day, some how. Please, this is a work in progress, just barely started it, forgive if it is a bit rought right now. I haven't merged the chorus or dup'd the verse measures yet, but hopefully you'll get a kinda idea of it anyway

For those of you unacquainted as yet with C.S. Lewis, Reepicheep is a tiny mouse with the chivalrous heart of a Lion, whose dream it is to meet Aslan face to face. A little bit of him, I think, is in all of us

Click to download SleepSweetReepicheep.mp3 (w.i.p.)

With much affection to all,
Muffit

Some of the words (also in progress):

Sleep Sweet Reepicheep

All your life you've tried
Little knight
To be someone's star
Courage needs not size
Little knight
Look how brave you are

Time will remember
Hearts as big as yours

Sleep, cavalier
Aslan is near
Sweet are the lilies
Growing from His tears

Clever piece. I gave up trying to use a regular grill. I cook in a cast iron frying pan over the fire.
