Default Original Lost in Space on DVD!

For all of you who loved Lost in Space as kids (like me), they are releasing the full first season in about 2 weeks on DVD! It's already at #107 in Amazon ratings, and is priced quite fairly ($55 for 8 disks).

I was hoping to get it for my birthday, well, maybe I will be lucky and find a way somehow... I would dearly love to share this with my daughter...

It's got a whole gaggle of 5 star reviews! Season One I believe is when you get to see Jonathan Harris evolve from a sinister bad guy to an extremely loveable show-stealer. What a wonderful memory of him!

P.S. Chime in if you love LOS!

I know this is an old post but I just had to chime in with some input about LIS season 3 vol 1. I bought it recently and was really shocked at how fuzzy, blurry and generally out of focus it was. It looked like it was a VHS copy taped off air at SLP speed. Has anyone else run across this problem? I have read some people theorize that the DVD sets were not remastered and are off of some copies made of the show back in the 80s. How disappointing. This show deserves better than this. Any Ideas on how to get 20th Century fox to release this show the right way?

I think you will agree that they truely botched this release in a big way. Still sitting unwraped on the shelf you say? Yeah, I've got a big DVD backlog too. I keep buying them but I have less and less time to actualy sit down and watch them.

I dunno....

I like Season 3 as the Robinsons spent more time in space and landed on many planets as opposed to Season 2 where they were in flight for the first 3 eps only to crash land and stay marooned all season long.

I watched the entire set and didn't notice anything with the focus or visual quality while doing so. One thing about DVD players and the TV you're watching them on, they're all different from one viewer to another, so the problem may not be the DVD itself, it might be the equipment you're watching it on.

As far as the source material itself, we don't know what 20th Century Fox had to work with to master the DVDs. They're only going to put so much effort into mastering a TV show versus a major motion picture.

All in all, I'm pleased with the DVDs. I still need to get the second half of Season 2 though - it was the hardest part of the entire series for me to watch - it was pretty much all about Doctor Smith, Will & the Robot and I don't know if I wanted to pay 50-50 bucks to relive it all. Maybe I'll see if I can score a set on eBay for a lower price.

Later,

Bryan

As for my equipment, I can only say this: Every other DVD I watch on it looks great. Clean and Crisp with plenty of detail. I pop in Lost in space season 3 volumn 1 and it looks like crap. So, It's not my player or my monitor. It's the DVD. Oh the pain!!!

It depends on how big a Lost In Space fan you are. Pick it up if you can find it at a great price. Full price is riduculous for this item.
