Here's a progress report.........
1 day, 14 hours remaining on the rendering of scene 4, which is a 15 second clip, that's why this one is taking longer.
I have a spectacular shot planned for the final scene, but I'm keeping that a secret for now.
Here's where it's at, at the time of this posting.
When it's finished, i'll post another test edit at YouTube.
Had a bit of a scare today with a little bit of bad weather. One power failure and that would have made me blow my stack. I also would have had to start over.

Looks great.
A question if I may, not really about the animation, more about the shuttle : How does it move ?
We see the Viper has small wheels, so presumably it can 'drive'. But the shuttle doesn't ?

I'm not sure that question has ever been answered. All I know that in one episode (I'm not sure which one), the shuttle is seen taxiing in the landing bay by just gliding along the floor on its little pads. Maybe there's some kind of anti-grav thing going on. Or there's little wheels under the pads, I dunno.

I think that is more in keepiing with the Galactica's Universe ... perhaps wheels or tracks extend down from the landing struts ....but your guess is as good as mine.
that the thing about BSG it give more questions than answers

If it weren't for the number of Vipers in the landing bay....I would suggest this slow movement of the shuttle is, upon launch, plunged into the middle of a major space battle. A instant and unexpected change of pace.
Perhaps include audio that they will make it through and pick up the lost warrior....and while the come under fire....they make it out to start their mission.
Just an idea......

Thanks. I've got the rest of the film planned out though, it's just a matter of setting it up. But thanks for the idea.

Scene 5 is in the can. I'll start scene 6 sometime tomorrow. The next set of doors it goes through leads into the landing bay.

Just to show what the new texture on the walls will look like after the animation is finished. Since I started the animation with the old walls, I kinda have to finish it with the old walls.
Scene 6 is about to start shooting. I've had to do some last minute prep on the launch area before I move the shuttle in there, atmospheric shield generators, more viper doors, and realigning the guide lights for light-up animation (that's going to be fun. (<<<< insert sarcasm here))

Setting up the launch and recovery area for animation.........
I've timed 20 seconds of guide light animation (600 frames). They'll be changing every 5 frames, and that timing is based on a frame by frame analysis of a tv episode (taking into account the doubling of every 5th frame on ntsc). I've also added the atmosperic shield generators. The picture attached shows those and two of the guide lights lit up. Also, right at the top of the entrance to the bay, there is a texture made from a screencap of the tv bay.
