Looks very good indeed. How did you light him? A HDR image? The model's pretty much perfect though he does need a big shiny gun to go with him.

Yeah, I dunno what's going on there. The shiny is the same settings as anything else that's shiny. {EDIT- I think I found what is going on there... it's reflecting the "skirt" as well}

I do want to point out- This is a conversion of a Poser model to Lightwave, to get surfacing ideas down pat..

My Cylon is on it's way, which is a re-work of Don's OLD old Cylon model..

Nah. I just placed a colorful BG in there so the dark pieces would show in the render.

The reflection settings are bit off maybe. Did you try some radiosity?

It has radiosity on. Same setting as the first image above, just a diff background.

And I changed your surfaces to those used on the other model.

Darrell, i was looking at your reflections a bit. Have you tried to use nodes a bit in lightwave yet?

Here's an earlier setup of a cylon i made a while ago. I used an HDRI image through nodes and it comes out pretty good if you want a "shinner" look.

The thing about HDRIs I don't get is this: Wont they affect everything in the scene?

And again, I nodes nuttin' about nodes.

Here's what i'm talking about. Take a look at nodes. They make it easier to control texturing where you can add layer upon layer. Here is a simple screen shot of my scene file. It show's the node. This one in use is from the DP node pack called DP_Metallic. Easy to use and gives you greater control.

The HDRI image is a simple metallic looking surface.
