Default insect aliens

I saw "Cowboys and Aliens" tonight and have an observation.
How many lookalike insect creatures are there?
Aliens
Cowboys and Aliens
District 9
Independence Day
Starship Troopers
Super 8

Are all these mutant insects related? How many times are they going to visit Earth and attempt to destroy it? Are there any other movies that I haven't mentioned?

My previous post mentioned only movies. Of course on TV there were the Ovions and Species 8472. But the Ovions look nothing like all the other bugs.
Perhaps all of the creatures in the aforementioned movies are Species 8472?

I do agree that there is a certain lack of originality in a lot of sci-fi creatures these days, The problem is...whats the alternative?
Over the years we've seen everything from "The Blob" to District-9's prawns and everything in between.

I think the "Alien" and "Predator" are a couple of real nice original alien creature designs. On the other hand I think the ST:TNG era tendancy of adding markings or ribbed heads got a really overused and has become a bad cliche'.

Its just that there have been so many different creatures that its likely that anything new will look like a re-hash of something old.

A total lack of creativity basically. That is why we see not only alot of similar-looking aliens, but way, wayyyyyyyyyyyyy too much "reimagining".
No creativity.
