Lightbulb New documentary looking for an original Galactica production element

Hi folks,

I'm producing a number of short, original documentaries in the science-fiction professional and fan communities for Arisia TV. One of my upcoming pieces is focused on a fan model-maker who spent three years recreating the studio-shooting model of the original Battlestar Galactica. (You can see a still and quick background of this and other pieces in a recent posting I wrote at the Arisia TV blog.)

I'm looking for an obscure production element from the 1979 series that I think will really help make this piece something special, but I've been having a hell of a time trying to find it.

I'm looking for a font (no, not the 'battlestar.ttf' or Sci-Fi series freebies). Specifically, I'm looking for a font that replicates the original episodes' title sequence. For example, about 1:40 into this clip - the opening to "The Living Legend", if you look at the fonts used for the episode title and all the guest stars and tip of the hat to Glen Larson, it's *that* typeface that I'm looking for.

(Suffice it to say that in the opening sequence of the documentary I'm putting together, I've recreated some of the classic camera shots of the Galactica model, and the model maker did a great Tony Swartz kind of "huh?" gaze that I can't pass up using.)

After hours of searching and hitting a lot of dead ends through Google, font libraries, and fan sites, I found my way here and to Tombs of Kobol (thanks Dawg!). Can anyone here help me find this font (or a reasonable facsimile)?

Thanks for any help.

Thanks! That gives me a great start.

I'll post updates on the documentary as we get close to its premiere (we're shooting for a mid-September release).

I'll make sure to add a thank-you credit to Colonial Fleets.

Ya know, seeing that title put a smile on my face.

I'd like to see an episode or two with that title.
