A sheltie is an excellent breed to have Bsg. Just remember to be
patient and to keep your wits about you if it's under a year old .........and if it's
anything like our Max .........Keep treats handy and your running shoes ON

hubby has had them before. I am going to be a newbie at it. I prefer kitties but if I have to have a dog I want either a Taco Bell dog, daschund, or a cocker spaniel!

On chihahahs and daschunds they tend to have poor temperaments on the cocker Spaniel they have POTTY control problems. A sheltie has a fairly even
temperment and is highly intelligent and therefore more of a 'family' and not
a spoiled dog as are labs ............ONCE you get them settled down

The only dogs I like are hot dogs.

You can put 'em in the microwave.
You can stick 'em in the fridge.
I don't have to pick up their "presents"
They don't get sick and die.
And when I'm done with 'em, I can eat 'em.

ok ya'll are going to think I am a bit nutty for this but I just went to the Goodwill store at the top of the hill and bought a pair of pants. Yes, I am a thrift store shopper. I love to go there and buy clothes. That is where I bought my wedding dress, paid only $20 for it and only had a couple of minor alterations to make. My hubby and when my family come down they go there too. You can get really good deals on clothes and other household merchandise.

Nothing nutty about it at all, dearest bsg1fan. I go to the thrift stores to find stage clothes when I am perfroming in rock bands. (They can be a surprisingly good source for stage clothes...nice jeans, cool shirts.)

And of course, I also make thrifty runs to the supermarket...a band guy isn't a band guy without Ramen noodles.

I guess I am not nutty if other people do it too. I like the selection and the prices aren't bad either. Where else can you buy a pair of pants or a shirt for under $10. Bought a winter coat there too as my old one finally died and I needed a new one come this winter. That was only $20 also! My stepgrandma used to go school clothes shopping for me on the base at the thrift shop. Got so much nice things that the girls that had to wear the latest fashions tried to find out where I got my clothing. I told them that I had received them as gifts for the upcoming school year! Boy there used to be so jealous!

Hubby is talking about getting me a sewing machine and I told him that instead of buying curtains for the winter I will just get some fabric and make some. Can't be that hard.

Your right about the fashions in the stores. Either they would make me look like a bag lady or a ...... well lets not scare the kiddies with that word? You get more bang for your buck in thrift stores!

Hi Bsg

Make sure you have him get you a good one if you're gonna do drapes. The low cost ones are fine for shirts and dresses, but give 'em thicker material like drapes and jeans and the bobbin jams up every 30 seconds .

Pfaff and Viking are great, but $$$. I've heard White is good too, and not too $$$. Best of luck to ya!!!

The only thing that I can sew is a button! You all have a talent that I would love to have.......Just don't have the time to practice.

Good luck BSG on finding the right machine

So, Captain Picard gets a rip in his uniform. He goes to Garak on Deep Space Nine, gives him the damaged uniform, and points to Garak's repair kit, and says: "Make it sew!"

Pa dum bum!

That's just like a guy. Give a woman a gift that makes her do more work. But if that's what you want, congrats. Hope you feel better, soon.

I don't know. If she sews as a hobby, it is a good gift. On the other hand, if it's not a hobby....

Its a new hobby. I actually used it for the first time today. Hubby needed the command patches on his uniforms changed so I did it! Came out looking like a seamstress had done them!
