Hey, potemkin - it's not Dr. Who, is it?
That's just a guess, BTW - the only Dr. Who I've seen was years ago on PBS (Tom Baker). But it sounds like something he'd say.

Is it from Red Dwarf? It sounds like something they would say.

OK, it's Uno's turn, but while we're waiting for her to be able to come up with a good one, here's an easy one for passing the time:
When was the first use of the line "Beam me up, Scotty."?

"Beam me up, Scotty" was never used in the original series, I believe.
As for my quote:
"This is it, the entrance ta the Forbidden Forest. All we gotta do is pick a door..."

Never used in TOS--that is correct. When WAS it first used?
And I have no clue how to get into the Forbidden Forest.

Might have been there, too, but there was an earlier place where the line was consciously "quoted" as though in recognition of the fact that it had never actually been used before, despite its widespread fame. Who remembers the exact spot? (I had to confirm it on a videotape to be absolutely certain).

Not surprising, since drinks are often purported to have amazing abilities to "transport" one to exotic "locations". The surprising thing is how a phrase that was never uttered became a stock expression. Kind of like "Play it again, Sam." which also was never actually said.
But, once again, where was the phrase finally used, as sort of a tribute to itself? Anybody else have it memorized? (I confess that I did. I just referred to the video to make sure that I wasn't mistaken. I wasn't.)

I had to cheat and get it off the Internet, so I won't tell.

Hi, Uno. You're being very sweet, waiting for us to finish the "beam up" question even though it's your turn and we should all be working on your question first, the one about the Forbidden Forest. Anybody know the answer to that one? EYE sure don't!

Although Kirk did say, "Beam me up, Mr. Scott." in one TOS episode, which is pretty durn close. (I know, I know, almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades and Star Trek is neither, so nevermind.)

Thanks, bombadil, but I am actually procrastinating and really should get back to work. I will have to go to CF Anonymous soon, I think.

Really? I didn't remember that. You're right, that is pretty darn close. What episode and scene was that?
In fact, the quote that I am fishing for is not "Beam me up, Scotty" but rather "Scotty, beam me up." which is also close, but not exact. I wonder whether Kirk ever said the exact words, "Beam me up, Scotty."
And I wonder where that Forbidden Forest reference came from??

Well, that's the question that's actually the "live" one right now. Does Rowan know the answer?? Get it right and you get to ask the next question.

OK, in the Star Trek animated series Kirk did say, "Beam me up, Scotty" I can quote the episode if you give me some time to look it up (ditto on the TOS ep where Kirk said, "Beam me up, Mr. Scott.")
And Rowan is right about my quote, but doesn't anyone else know? I'll give you a hint. A VERY famous rock idol was one of the stars.
