Going by your posts, somehow I doubt that
Cooking is all right, but I find that it's a lot better if I'm cooking for someone other than myself. Just for me, I am quite comefortable eating out of a can.

I have to agree with this I'm the same.
An apple, a piece of cheese and bit of smoked salmon and I'm done! but I'd love to be facile with food and just whip up gourmet dishes with what ever is in the cupboard. I'd love to know how to make sauces and use seasonings

Well, the cook's back to work! ("quick" food loses its appeal after a couple of days in a row but, you can't beat it when you're busy around the house)
Tonight -- pork chops, potatoes, zucchini fritters

Sounds great BST!
Tonight was a free-for-all. My family has got to be the pickiest in California. So I made grilled cheese sandwiches for my daughter, a quick hamb. helper for the stepson who is visiting, and for me my absolute fav' Monte Cristos.
I want to make a nice pork roast later this week, gotta get the recipe from my mom.
Toodles!

oh god Charybdis!
Dreading the after effects of tonight's choice here.
I decided that it would be kielbasa, stuffing and a veggie!

we had kielbasa but not the stuffing as I went to make it and discovered that we had no butter or margarine in the fridge after I warned the other half that we needed some last week. so he got french fries with corn and the meat. tonight i might make stuffing to go with the leftover beef stew!

That reminds me - I need to pull up jambalaya recipes. While she was here my Mom showed us one I think is a cheat - but it's pretty good. Lots of shrimp and sausage. I like Cajun cooking.
Amber, any time - but you'll have chores just like the rest of us.
No, Muffit, I'm not a chef. But I grew up in a house where Mom had to be inventive to make the grocery budget last as long as the month did, so new foods and prep methods were pretty typical.
A good friend of ours is also a professional chef.
And we're regulars watching the Food Network (Mrs. Dawg makes Hollandaise sauce from scratch).
Well, I'm off to find a recipe for tzatziki - I'm on a Gyros kick (we have some leftover leg of lamb that has to be eaten...)
I am
Dawg
