Default unresolved series

It's my theory that at least half of the science fiction and fantasy TV series made in the past 50 years didn't stay on the air long enough to have their storyllines properly resolved. What series do you think did or didn't "end"? It doesn't have to be a well-known series, and it can be new or old. I'm just looking for lists.
Off the top of my head, I can think of:
Battlestar Galactica--no
Lost in Space--no
Otherworld--no
Surface--it looks like the answer will be "no"
Land of the Giants--no
Land of the Lost--no
V--sort of
Quantum Leap--yes, but I hated it!
Dark Shadows (the soap opera, not the remake)--yes
American Gothic--sort of
Lost--Even with the show as popular as it is, it's highly unlikely (but that's the writers' fault, not the lack of ratings)
Touched by an Angel--yes

All of these shows fall into the no category

The Time Tunnel
The Incredible Hulk (more infuriating to me is that they never moved the storyline forward at least by having Jack McGee figure out that David Banner was alive and was the Hulk)
Cleopatra 2525
Galactica 1980
The Lost World
The New People (kind of a forerunner of sorts to Lost)
Cliffhangars-The Secret Empire (the other two installments of this series "The Curse Of Dracula" and "Stop Susan Williams" did have their conclusions filmed or aired)

Default unresolved endings

I thought of some more:
The Greatest American Hero--yes
Early Edition--no
Wonderfalls--no
Tru Calling--no
Star Trek: Voyager--yes
SeaQuest--I guess it did, but I just really didn't like the direction the series took in its third season so I can't say for sure.

Space 1999 got a yes, thanks to the "Message From Moonbase Alpha" short film.

I thought Farscape was resolved in the TV Movie The Peackeepers War?

I stand corrected on this. The last installments of "The Secret Empire" were filmed, and along with the final installment of the "Stop Susan Williams" serial were aired overseas. In fact the bootleg DVD set of "Cliffhangers" that circulates among collectors includes this unaired in America final episode that allows this short-lived series to end with all loose ends tied up from all three storylines.

I would say Space Above and beyond as well as V the series although there was another lost episode to be filmed, The Attack.

UFO-no Almost done watching this series for the first time and I like it better than Space:1999. Same creator.

What about Blake's 7? Kolchak The Night Stalker (not really scifi but worth a mention)? Quark?

I see Firefly on the list. I think Serenity gave it some closure. I would still like to see more Firefly tho.

And sadly it's not just SciFi shows that end w/o closure. I can think of several great sitcoms that were never resolved either when they ended. Soap ended with several cliffhangers 25 years ago and fans are still wondering what happened next.

Oh, stupid me to forget the very first TV show (out of many) I got on DVD. Planet of the Apes. yes, the 1974 tv series.

I remember meeting Richard Hatch at a convention in April 2002 asking him when BSG was going to be on DVD and I told him I have PotA and he was startled by that.

And we can add Buck Rogers in the 25th Century to the list too. Even if I didn't care much for the Searcher eps.

Skipper, I hated the ending of Quantum Leap too.

As for Blake's 7, The final episode did wrap things up but with a real downer of an ending. Another show that could have used more episodes was the prisoner. The final episode was all abstract and alagorical.

Blake's 7 had the same type of ending as Quantum Leap? Friends tell me B7 is similar in ways to Firefly so I should like B7 when I finally see it. Kolchak is next tho.

Speaking of B7, what about the ending of B5? I never got to see the last eps and follow ups of Babylon 5. closure or no?

Agreed!

I remember watching Soap as a kid, man it got to be so whacky that the last episode i remember watching back then was the one that had a U.F.O. in it of all things which abducted the main character? Was that the last Soap episode. By then people were probably too busy watching its spin off series Benson, which was more popular.

Married With Children didn't finish properly either, and its one of TV's most legendary sitcoms. No movie spin off so far either.

You can add "Eli Stone" to the list. We may never know what happened with his brain aneurysm.

There's been talk (read: rumor) at the IMDB forums of a possible movie. One can hope.

Some more series to add to the list. A lot of these were either cancelled mid-season or never made it beyond their first season:

Homeboys in Outer Space (UPN)
Starlost ?
Total Rekall 2070
Deepwater Black ?
Jason of Star Command ?
Space Academy ?
ARK II ?
Star Maidens

Battlestar Galactica 1978 Re: unresolved series

Well, Jericho was given a second chance and got 7 episodes. I know it was a business decision but the fans got some closure. But I wouldn't mind seeing a movie or movies on a case-by-case basis.

"Captain Power"! Talk about a show that needed wrapping up! One character is left for dead, their base is destroyed, they are on the run...THE END! Such a bummer.

"V" is a big one for me. I dug the "Final Battle" mini-series, but as I watch it now it just doesn't wrap up the original series the way that it deserves!

"Beauty and the Beast" deserved to be wrapped up if you ask me. I wish they would do some sort of movie, televised or otherwise.

Now talking about series I wish had happened...I had high hopes for "Earth Star Voyager" but it ended up being a movie of the week.

Saturday morning shows like "Space Academy" don't really count because they were not meant to last more than a season. In the 70s, live-action Saturday morning shows would only have a limited number of episodes produced and then would just be rerun endlessly for a few years because the kid audience generally didn't care that there were only so many different episodes overall. I think "Shazam" and "Isis" were the only ones to actually have two years of episodes produced.
