Enjoy , Enjoy your new High speed internet where you can offer your joy and personalty to us all , only quicker .
I would like to see a few pic myself , When I was a Massage therapist I worked on man from Tennessee, and he would tell me of the beauty of the countryside.
(My mind map of the States of the US is not that good is Nashville and Memphis in Tennessee).
He said he was from Tennessee but work most of his life in Kentucky (Bluegrass country he called it , Is it blue?) which is in the next State..Or am I completly wrong?
Well Great to have you back .

ptomekin,
The grass in central Kentucky looks blue in the morning mist, it's really got a bluegreen cast to it, makes for a very lush looking green. Nashville and Memphis are in Tennessee. As well as a gorgeous place called Townsend. The whole southeast end of the state is gorgeous with the Smoky Mountains and the lakes.
Muffit,
I hope this restart is good for you. I think ours is good for us. I'm glad you made it safely.

Back in the 1800s, a lot of Scots and Irish migrated to the Appalachian mountains (just hills really).
Many of us have Scotch/Irish & Cherokee Indian bloodlines.

I lived in Chattanooga for about 2 years, at the base of Signal Mountain. God's country it was, the land above the clouds. I loved it up there. Enjoy Tennesse, Muffy, it is a wonderful state, a peaceful place, with really nice people. I miss the comfortable friendliness that strangers on the street pass on to you as you pass them.

Thanks all!! I caught a nasty cold during the trip cuz I was in and out of the cold (and left out in the very cold waiting for a shuttle), and that compiled with these yucky hot flashes is keeping me from being as giddy as I should be. I have the door open as I type cuz the hotel has no opening windows (we have AC but seems weird to turn it on when its 50 outside).
Thank you all SO MUCH for replying! Makes a daggit feel loved...
Affectionately,
Muffit

there were some nice looking trout pools in those pics, potemkin. And if you think that scenery is nice, you ought to see the Adirondacks (where the fishing is most definitely good)
Muffit, what brought you to Tennesee?

Well, lots of reasons really. But I do admit it's really weird for me, we have never lived outside California before! So far it looks awfully pretty though - thanks so much for teh pics Darth! Guess we're almost neighbors now!! We'll be looking for a home in Madison County this week, and if we like it, stay here a piece. What a difference in home prices! A shack in California where I was at is $400,000+, and even then you gotta bid! A decent place would easily cost you $700,000 to 1.2 mil. Here $300,000 gets you a mansion. Yikes! Talk about a lopsided economy!
Well, guess I'd better change my profile!

Jackson area?
Just about an hour down I-40.
You are close to a lot of cool stuff.
I was surprised when I found out Jackson had a sushi bar.

great so now if I ever get back to Tennessee I will have more than one friend to look up. I have a girlfriend in Knoxville and now my favorite daggit is in Tennessee! I loved Tennessee when I was there on my honeymoon! Even went to Lookout Mountain battlefield and to the Chickamagua battlefield!
Hubby and I love the Civil War. Seen at least six sites where battles took place. More to see yet!

Hi Potemkin! Gotta admit, I'm not much for fishing. I always feel sorry for the little critters and throw everybody's back. Needless to say, I'm not very popular among the fisher-folk
We're hoping to see a reenactment or two Bsg. I always watch shows about the civil war on the history channel. I especially like stuff about naval things, like the Monitor, Merrimac and Hunley. 'Course, I'm in the wrong area for that...

LOL Potemkin! My Dad loves to fish. He owned a boat for a while and would take us out on it, which was really great. Don't worry about me, I'm just an old softy I hold no grudge against those who fish. And I heartily agree, the scenery and tranquility are well worth it

there is nothing like going to one of the battlefields and looking at where history was made. I love anything to do with history!
