Cut Scenes News & Poll at BattlestarGalactica.com

BattlestarGalactica.com webmaster Darrell Lawrence posted a new poll at Colonial Fleets: "On September 3rd, 2003, I was in a conference call with some people at Universal. They have asked that the fans decide on which deleted scenes to be posted on the web from whichever episodes first, with BattlestarGalactica.com hosting the web videos. Below is a poll. Please vote on which episode deleted scenes you'd like to see *first*. Depending on the voting will determine which deleted scenes are released first. Episodes deleted scenes will be released on the web every week following. And remember: Buy your DVD's of the original series wherever they're sold!" Be sure to cast your vote at the following link at BattlestarGalactica.com!

Target Date Set for the Letter Writing Campaign

CommanderTaggert at Colonial Fleets has proposed a Target Date for the Letter Writing Campaign: "I'm going to declare that the target date for the letter writing campaign has been set for Wednesday, 7 January 2004. That means that we should be prepared to drop our letters into the mailbox on Friday, 2 January 2004. Mark your calendars, and spread the word far and wide. The crux of our letters should be as John has suggested: 'We support a continuation of Battlestar Galactica saga, in the capable hands of series creator Glen Larson and producer Tom DeSanto. If possible we would support the use of original cast members such as Dirk Benedict and Richard Hatch. We are also open to other ideas as well.' At this point, we're going to assume the CEO of NBC is the addressee. We'll have to monitor merger talks to be sure. The fallback is the President of Universal Studios. Updates will be posted here at Colonial Fleets, at Cylon Alliance, and at the Battlestar Galactica 2 Sci-Fi BBoard forum." Many thanks to CommanderTaggert for posting the announcement at Colonial Fleets!

NBC Wins Auction for Vivendi Assets

In an interesting turn of events, Reuters has reported that the NBC television network won Vivendi Universal's marathon show business auction on Tuesday with a merger plan to create a new entertainment industry giant valued at more than $40 billion. It will be interesting to see if NBC's acquisition that includes Universal Studios, USA Network, and the Sci-Fi Channel, will affect the Battlestar Galactica revival effort. Universal Studios is the owner of the original Battlestar Galactica, and it's subsidiary the Sci-Fi Channel is behind the upcoming Battlestar Galactica re-imagining mini-series on December 7th. Thanks to LucianG for posting the report at the Cylon Alliance.

Longer Battlestar Galactica Marathon on the Sci-Fi Channel in October

A longer Battlestar Galactica marathon will be broadcast on the Sci-Fi Channel on October 13th! This is the longest Battlestar Galactica marathon in years, and likely to build interest for the DVD Box Set coming on October 21st. The marathon is for nine hours, from 9 AM to 6 PM Eastern Time. The marathon features the Battlestar Galactica pilot episode Saga of a Star World (3 hours), Lost Planet of the Gods (2 hours), The Gun on Ice Planet Zero (2 hours), and War of the Gods (2 hours). These are some of the very best episodes, however the all-time fan favorite episode The Living Legend (2 hours) is notably absent from October's marathon.

DeSanto/Hatch/Larson Report

BattlestarGalactica.com webmaster Darrell Lawrence posted a new report at Colonial Fleets: "It's my understanding that Tom DeSanto and Richard Hatch had some discussions regarding a *very* special project that includes Glen Larson... Depending on how the 'remake' goes, a MOVIE project may be in the works involving all three men. Also, regarding Tom DeSanto: It was made very clear to me that the comments made in regards to him 'supporting' the remake are false. Those were spin-doctored comments in which what he said was taken out of context. You want a TRUE continuation? Help support DeSanto/Hatch/Larson TOGETHER! Discuss this here!!!" Many thanks to Darrell for the awesome report!

Battlestar Galactica DVD: Eye Movement, Menu Shots, and More!

New article and pictures for the upcoming Battlestar Galactica DVD Set were published at TVShowsOnDVD.com! "'Does the eye move?' We can't tell you how many times the question has been asked. Well, the answer is... YES! The Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Epic Saga box - which measures a huge 8.5" x 9" - features a lenticular eye, with the illusion of eye movement. So now your own personal Cylon can watch you move around the room. Want more artwork? You got it! We have taken the below portion of a trade magazine ad, and zoomed in on the disc art depicted therein. As you can see, the ad seems to show that all six discs use the same artwork." For the complete article and pictures, be sure to check out the following link. Many thanks to Kingfish for posting the report at the Battlestar Galactica Club Forums!
