You've to give kids a chance. They barely have time to keep up with current sci-fi offerings. Remember, all of us have literally had a life time to accumulate our knowledge of the genre. In fact, I would suspect that thanks to the internet, kids today can learn about older works in their areas of interest alot easier and faster than we ever could.
