Tom DeSanto Remembers Battlestar Galactica Project

In an amazing story of what could have been, X-Men producer Tom DeSanto remembers his Battlestar Galactica project. The article was published in the Cinefantastique December 2003/January 2004 issue by writer Steven Simak. The article details the Battlestar Galactica project that Tom DeSanto had worked on with X-Men director Bryan Singer. At a later point, the project was shutdown in favor of the current mini-series production from the Sci-Fi Channel. For the complete article that is a must-read, be sure to visit the following link at the Battlestar Galactica Club Forums! Many thanks to Peter Noble for posting the report.

Request Battlestar Galactica Action Figures from McFarlane Toys

New report from Charybdis of Battlestar Callisto Gold Squadron: "I am asking anybody who will listen to email McFarlane Toys and ask, beg and plead with them to seriously look into making Battlestar Galactica toys and figures. In my introductory message, I listed all the great things that Battlestar Galactica is doing this year such as the DVD box set, the new cards, the books, the conventions, the video game and yes, even the new mini. The time to strike is now! Make your plea resonate with the sound of money for them! That's how they will listen! Also be sure to mention that it's the Original Series figures we want, but don't be disparaging toward the new mini. Here is the email addy for McFarlane, please spread the word: toys@mcfarlane.com."

Mini-Series Director Slams Original Battlestar Galactica

The director of the upcoming Battlestar Galactica mini-series on the Sci-Fi Channel recently slammed the original Battlestar Galactica. The director, Michael Rymer, lambastes that he "felt the original show was more of a 'Star Wars' knockoff than anything else. And before taking the job with Sci-Fi Channel, he had never really watched the original 1978 show." For the complete report on this obviously unqualified director for Battlestar Galactica, be sure to check out the following link at SyFyPortal.com

Splash Page 2.0 is Online at BattlestarGalacticaClub.com

The new version of the BattlestarGalacticaClub.com is now online! The new version of the splash page features: 1) Brand-new "Speedometer" coding. The Speedometer now utilizes layers, so it is displayed more accurately, and corrects a random bug in the previous version that had occasionally distorted the Speedometer box. 2) New .GIF bar image added under the Speedometer, with 1% to 100% as light grey images, instead of text. 3) The splash page requires cookies to function properly. The page is now friendly to those browsers that have cookies disabled. The splash page is now automatically bypassed if cookies are disabled. 4) The splash page is also now friendly to those browsers that have JavaScript disabled. Instead of just "conking out" when JavaScript is disabled, a proper message is displayed. Be sure to check out the new pages and latest updates at BattlestarGalacticaClub.com!

Battlestar Galactica in People Magazine

Battlestar Galactica Club councillor Rebecca posted a new report: "The latest issue of People Magazine has a reference to our show in it. On page 42 in the section called Picks&Pan TV Where are they now? it gives updates on the careers of Dirk, Richard and Herb. There are 2 pictures of each actor one from the show and one current and a brief update on what they had been doing since the show. It also mentions the release of the DVD and the remake. It calls the show a cult hit. This issue is the one with the Smart Family on the cover." Many thanks to Rebecca for posting the report at the Battlestar Galactica Club Forums!

Launch When Ready

Battlestar Galactica Club member guide Kingfish has started a brand-new petition. The petition is a follow-up to his recent 'We The Fans' petition, and is for the possibility of a new continuation after the recent announcements at Galacticon 2003, and states: "As the author of the 'We The Fans Petition,' I am starting this new one. The word has been given at Galacticon. The fans want above all else a continuation of the beloved series with Richard Hatch (Apollo), Dirk Benedict (Starbuck), and as many of the other stars of the show who want to participate. I don't believe we are asking for to much as evidenced by the huge DVD sales for the original product." Be sure to sign the petitions and spread the word!
