I don't know for sure about XBox, but at least on the PS2, you can target the lead raider in the formation and use "match speed" (double-press the circle) to match the speed, so that you don't have to manully maintain speed. It takes some practice, but you'll probably get the hang of this as you play the mission over... and over... and over.

For the rest of the formation flying, don't worry too much if you gradually fall behind because you lag a bit in following a turn. Each time there's a cut-scene, you'll resume right on target again.

I like to follow in formation for more than just a few seconds, since the formation will head out a bit away from the station, giving you a head start. I always take out the flight with a missile, then go to top speed and make a run for it. I run as far away as I can (you'll know you've gone too far when you bounce off the edge of the map) to replenish, and then turn around and head back in. I found that it worked best for me to head back in, then go for a missile lock on someone a second or so after the raiders start firing on me. As soon as the missile fully charged and launched, I'd head back out to space again. The raiders won't follow you all the way out- they take up patrol at some point out from the station. This way, I'm only taking out one raider per head-on, but I also usually didn't go below 80% on hull damage, and my exposure time was minimized before I replenished. This took a REALLY LONG TIME- 57 minutes for the mission, though I also took a long time taking out the weapons on the station and then taking out the vents at the end.

Note: once you here the cylon say “weapons charged and ready,” this means the lasers will start to fire at you again. Therefore you must go back to the center of the station and disable the weapons again.
- This level really really sucks.
I don't really remember exactly all the things you have to do. First, you fire into the reactor door that Iphi opened with her program. Then, there are some things on the top of the station that you have to take out to get the shaft to open. Then, you have to take out the core, and then finally you also have to take out three vents that open and close that are on some pylons around the station. Yes, it's a miserable mission.
