Audio Continuation: The Return of a Hero

Battlestar Galactica revival organizer Shawn Hardy has posted an update on his audio continuation, entitled "Battlestar Galactica: The Return of a Hero". Shawn reports: "Well, all parts are cast and the idea worked out great. Amberstar and Emerita wrote their own scene and did the voice acting for it. Then they emailed it to me and now the first 5 minutes of the last battle scene is done. They are in Vipers talking to each other along with Starbuck, Troy and Dillon. While at the same time they are knocking those pesky updated Cylons out of space. I had full intention of posting a casting call but others came forward behind the scenes and now the whole thing is cast. Thanks to everyone who have waited for this. I think we are finally in the home stretch of a 90 minute audio continuation and I hope it's what the fans want because I tried to capitalize on the ideas that I read over the last 5 years on the net." Many thanks to old war daggit Shawn Hardy for his incredible work on the audio continuation project.

Original Battlestar Galactica Action Figures and Vehicles

Brand-new action figures and vehicles for the original Battlestar Galactica television series are coming soon from Joyride Studios! The JoyrideStudios.com web site reports: "The sci-fi classic Battlestar Galactica lives again! Coming this fall, Joyride Studios will release action figures and vehicles based on the hit TV show. Collectors will be finally be able to get their hands on figures that resemble the show's actors—a first for Battlestar Galactica toys. Richard Hatch as Apollo, Dirk Benedict as Starbuck and Lorne Greene as Adama are some of the realistic figures coming out—not to mention the nefarious Cylon Centurion. Each figure will stand approximately 7" high and will feature 7 to 12 points of articulation. A display base and accessories will also be included. The ships—smaller-scaled than the figures—will feature great detail including landing gear, accurate cockpits and pilots." Series 1 is due September 2004 and features Starbuck, Silver Cylon Centurion, and Colonial Viper. Series 2 is due December 2004 and features Apollo, Athena, and Cylon Raider. Many thanks to monolith21 for posting the report at the Battlestar Galactica Club Forums.

Warrior Girl Painting Finished!

New report from Colonial Fleets webmaster thomas7g: "Hi Everyone! I finally finished (mostly) the drawing on the Colonial Fleets splashpage. I had originally planned on doing this finished shading stuff but all the admining over and problems with CF put this girl on a back burner. But with the new calm and wonderful atmosphere of CF, AND the great work of our mods, I have been able to get back to her. I hope you like it." New Galactica Technical & Science Reference Web Site

Battlestar Galactica fan justjackrandom has launched a brand-new web site dedicated as a Battlestar Galactica technical and science reference. justjackrandom reports: "My web site is finally in a viewable form. As I am not a graphic artist, and my knowledge of HTML is just enough to get me in trouble, it isn't fancy, but it is really meant to be content-based anyway, so the look will have to stand until I get the content where I want it (it is a bit content light at the moment). The link follows. Enjoy!" Thanks to justjackrandom for posting the announcement at the Battlestar Galactica Club Forums.

The roots of the word "Yahren"

Here is an interesting new report from Muffit at Colonial Fleets: "Well, well, you all probably already know this, but I didn't. Whilst I was perusing the splendiferous web, I ran across a German phrase... and the word 'Jahren' was prominently displayed. 'Jahren' is German for 'year', and it's pronounced, 'yahren'! Can't believe it took me all these yahren to find out!!!" Thanks to Muffit for reporting on the roots of the Colonial Year.

Happy April Fools Day 2004!

BattlestarGalacticaClub.com and ColonialFleets.com played an April Fools Day prank by swapping themes for a day. As reported at BattlestarGalacticaClub.com: "Happy April Fools Day! I hope you enjoyed the prank that Tom at Colonial Fleets and I played. Tom corrupted me at about 3 AM and we decided to trade forum designs. I changed our background, headers, and scroll bars to match the design at CF. Tom did the same, and even went further and changed his forum name and link colors to match ours. I hope you had fun, and look out, who knows what will happen next yahren!" For screen caps of the April Fools Day 2004 prank, be sure to check out the following link at the Battlestar Galactica Club Forums.
