Thumbs up NEWS: Colonial Newsletter - 11/12/2003

(Continued)

The first round of letters, aimed at DeSanto and Larson, should be mailed on 28 October 2003, in the immediate wake of Galacticon and the release of the DVD set. These letters (pen-and-paper letters, please; email should only be used to supplement a pen-and-paper letter) should contain positive messages of support on behalf of the fandom for a continuation helmed by these two immensely talented men, who have demonstrated a clear understanding of what makes Battlestar Galactica special, and who have demonstrated a clear understanding of what fans expect from a true revival of our beloved show. Letters should be sent to the following addresses:

Mr. Tom DeSanto
c/o William Morris Agency
151 El Camino Drive
Beverly Hills, CA 90212

Mr. Glen A. Larson
c/o Shapiro-Lichtman, Inc.
8827 Beverly Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90048

The second round of letters, aimed at Bob Wright, President and CEO of NBC-Television (the new owners of Universal Studios, which will need to work in tandem with Larson/DeSanto to create a big-screen Battlestar Galactica), and should be mailed on 2 January 2004, with the goal of having the letters hit the NBC mailroom on or about 7 January 2004, the one-month anniversary of the airing of SciFi's mini-series. The aim of these letters is to convince NBC that there is a ripe market for a true revival of Battlestar Galactica created by DeSanto and Larson. While the authors of these letters will have the ability to cite DVD sales figures and miniseries ratings figures in support of a continuation, the main message should be clear, and along the lines of:

"We support a continuation of the Battlestar Galactica saga, in the capable hands of series creator Glen Larson and producer Tom DeSanto. If possible we would support the use of original cast members such as Dirk Benedict and Richard Hatch. We are also open to other ideas as well."

Letters (again, pen-and-paper letters, please; email should only be used to supplement a pen-and-paper letter) should be sent to the following address on 2 January 2004:

Mr. Bob Wright
President
NBC
30 Rockefeller Plaza
New York, NY 10112

We encourage every fan of Battlestar Galactica to take an active role in making this letter writing campaign the most effective in Science Fiction history. Rising together, and speaking in one unified voice, we will realize our dream.

Please check in frequently for any updates.

NEW! Sign the two new Battlestar Galactica Continuation Petitions

There are two brand-new petitions available for you to sign and show your support for a Battlestar Galactica continuation. The first petition is for Glen A. Larson and Tom DeSanto, and states: "We the fans of the mighty Battlestar Galactica would like to see the combined work of Tom DeSanto and Glen Larson in a major motion picture. As fans we also hope and pray that these two men can bring about a possible continuation with both the characters and actors that made the show a worth while venture. We don't ask for much but hope for a show that will make those who passed proud (Lorne Greene, Lloyd Bridges, Jonathan Harris, and John Colicos). Finally we believe that actions can speak louder then the printed words and hope that both men will take this request to heart." The second petition is for the possibility of a new continuation after the recent announcements at Galacticon 2003, and states: "As the author of the 'We The Fans Petition,' I am starting this new one. The word has been given at Galacticon. The fans want above all else a continuation of the beloved series with Richard Hatch(Apollo), Dirk Benedict(Starbuck), and as many of the other stars of the show who want to participate. I don't believe we are asking for to much as evidenced by the huge DVD sales for the original product." Be sure to sign the petitions and spread the word!
