Alien Nation was present day LA, it was illegal aliens, it was the immigrant experience in modern America, it was a cop show format that was attainable by Joe Schmuck, and it was produceable at a profitable first run cost.
It was INTERESTING on a continuing basis. Lots of episodic stories that you could tell inside the main story.
Ozzie and Harriet alien family meet US.
Success means many things, but in the end, to be strip showed it needed four seasons.
