BattlestarGalacticaClub.com

Sixth Week of May, 2004

"We can rebuild him. Better than he was before... Better... Stronger... Faster!" With that statement in mind, the BattlestarGalacticaClub.com and Mobile Battlestar news reporting system has been completely rebuilt. The BattlestarGalacticaClub.com main page now loads 25% faster and displays the top five most recent news articles instead of all news articles for the month. Mobile Battlestar is now fully automated courtesy of the PHPNews 1.2.2 News Management Software. All 820 individual XHTML pages that formed the original Mobile Battlestar have been removed from the server to make way for the new news management system. All of the former news articles, from June 2002 all the way up to May 2004, have been manually inserted into the new PHPNews 1.2.2 database during the rebuilding process, so no information was lost. Enjoy the new version of BattlestarGalacticaClub.com and Mobile Battlestar!

Major Announcement from the Colonial Fan Force!

July 20, 2004 by Webmaster

"WE HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY - In the CFF's ongoing negotiations with Daily Variety (which offers its heartiest congratulations on our success), a representative of the magazine has made an offer that is impossible for the management of the CFF to ignore. That offer is as follows: 'Normally a full page 4 Color is over $11,000... but since I know you are on a budget I would be willing to give you a full page, 4 Color rate of $7,000!!!' Since Daily Variety is a 'daily,' we have much more flexibility, and the magazine has given us up to one week prior to the artwork deadline (14 September 2004) to upgrade from a black and white ad to a full color ad. No other fan organization has ever taken out a full color ad in support of their cause. This feat is, however, now within our grasp. Therefore, the Colonial Fan Force Campaign has been relaunched, effective immediately, with the goal of raising an additional $2,000 over the next 60 days. We raised $10,000 in 3 months, I firmly believe we can raise another $2,000 in 2 months. If you missed out on making a contribution the first time, you can now make a difference! Spread the word far and wide! We have already made Battlestar Galactica history, now let's make fan history! We can do this. Click on the Paypal link, and make a contribution today! Or, if you prefer, you can mail your check or money order to one of the addresses listed to the left. The Variety offer is an unexpected gift, but a gift nonetheless... now let's take the Battlestar Galactica revival effort where no revival effort has gone before... full color!" The Colonial Fan Force is Endorsed by: Dirk Benedict, Richard Hatch, Jane Seymour, Stu Phillips, Jack Stauffer, Laurette Spang, Ronald D. Moore, Aaron Douglas, and the Hollywood North Report. Be sure to visit ColonialFanForce.org to contribute and make a difference, and help spread the word!

The Return of a Hero: Audio Continuation Online

July 20, 2004 by Webmaster

Added the Battlestar Galactica Audio Continuation from T. Shawn Hardy, "The Return of a Hero", to the Audio Clips and Music section. Shawn describes the Audio Continuation as: "Twenty yahrens ago, Captain Apollo introduced the great Celestial Chamber to a few of his closest friends in the last episode that was titled 'The Hand of God'. Now, as the Commander, he is sitting high up in the same chair he once occupied. He reminisces back to that time and all that took place thereafter. Now twenty yahrens after The Hand of God, with one distress signal coming from a portal that has mysteriously opened up in space, Commander Apollo is forced to chose between losing his best friend and losing his only son. The Return of a Hero reunites the original cast along with new characters that are voiced by some of the original Battlestar Galactica fan base. With elements from the original Battlestar Galactica along with The Return of Starbuck and Richard Hatch's Battlestar Galactica: The Second Coming, The Return of a Hero is a must for any Battlestar Galactica fan to hear." For the complete Audio Continuation, be sure to visit the following link in the Audio Clips and Music section at BattlestarGalacticaClub.com! Many thanks to T. Shawn Hardy as well as those that participated in the project.

Jack Stauffer's Thoughts: Meeting Jack in Person

July 20, 2004 by Webmaster

New report from Jayworld at the Battlestar Galactica Club Forums: "Got to meet (finally) Jack Stauffer at the Dallas ComicCon/Sci-Fi Show this past weekend. He was a blast to meet and get to talk to. He and I talked in-depth for 20 minutes, then later Jack had a 1 hour, 15 minute 'panel' talk, which was very interesting." For the complete must-see report from Jayworld, be sure to check out his article at the Battlestar Galactica Club Forums.

Richard Hatch Interview

July 20, 2004 by Webmaster

New announcement from Commander Taggart at Cylon.org: "I had the pleasure of speaking to Richard Hatch on the phone last night for about an hour. I can personally confirm everything anyone has ever said about the man's warmth, passion for the original series, passion for science fiction, and respect for the fans. The material Richard shared in the recorded interview/discussion will be divided up between FRACK! and the Cylon Alliance. He had a lot of truly thought-provoking things to say about the science fiction genre and how it is treated by the networks, and I am currently working on transcribing his statements for posting here at CA. He also had a lot to say about how he will be working to bring The Great War of Magellan to science fiction fans. I'll have the interview up as soon as I possibly can, but on the 'news' front, Richard did confirm that Ronald D. Moore has asked him to take part in another episode, and he will be returning to Vancouver next month for shooting. He had a lot of nice things to say about the RDM show, and the direction in which the production staff is taking it. He also echoed Jack Stauffer's sentiments that Moore and Company should not be held accountable for the decision to reimagine, stating that it was the suits who made that call, and Moore, Eick, etc., were only carrying out the studio/network directives. He also expressed his deep desire for closure of the original story, through either an original series movie or some other reunion to tie up the threads left dangling by the premature cancellation of the original series." Be sure to check out the brand-new Richard Hatch interview from Commander Taggart at Cylon.org.
