Those are crickets, Peter. When the cicadas have appeared, there will be no mistaking it, they are incredibly LOUD, both day and night!



The cicadas have also been given the misnomer of "locust". There are a couple of varieties which show up only 1 time every 13 or 17 years, to mate. Otherwise, they spend the remainder of their time underground.
