Free Applications
I thought it would be neat to catalog some of the free applications I've seen posted here, and some others that I use in one thread.
3D Modeling: http://www.anim8or.com/ http://www.blender3d.org/ http://www.caligari.com/ http://sketchup.google.com/ Image Editors: http://www.irfanview.com/ http://picasa.google.com/ http://www.gimp.org/ Miscellaneous: http://earth.google.com/ http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/ http://www.firefox.com/ http://www.software995.com/ Feel free to add to the list. What do you guys use? |
Here's another one:
http://homokaasu.org/rasterbator/ Essentially what you can do with this is import any phto, and increase it to any size. Say you want to cover a 10 X 10 wall with a shot of the Big G and a couple of Vipers in flight. you import the pic you want, plug in the dimensions you want, and it will print out your pic on regular paper like a puzzle. You just then have to put it together. |

I'm noodling around with Poser6, Bryce 5.5 (waiting on Bryce 6 to come out) and Shade 8, but http://www.daz3d.com *may still have* Bryce 5.0 free for download right now, and DAZ|Studio (http://www.daz3d.com/program/studio/1_0index.php) is always free. Not bad in terms of use and the output quality is great, you just need to leave your machine alone for long renders.

Nice list. Here's a small 3D app I became aware of yesterday. I haven't done much with it, but it looks cool.
