5. Action Alerts: For All Battlestar Galactica Fans

Post Office Mail the Universal Entertainment Group

PRESS RELEASE: "BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (4-hour miniseries) - SCI FI re-imagines the groundbreaking and beloved series in which 'a rag, tag fugitive fleet' of the last remnants of mankind searches for its true home. Fleeing the aliens responsible for the slaughter of their homeworld, the Battlestar Galactica survivors must meet a whole new set of challenges. This intriguing twist on a classic will be written by writer Ronald D. Moore (Roswell, Mission Impossible II) with Breck Eisner (Steven Spielberg's Taken; The Invisible Man) attached to direct. Distributed by USA Cable Entertainment, the Project will be executive produced by David Eick (American Gothic, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Spy Game)." The new miniseries is a re-imagining, and not a continuation, of the original Battlestar Galactica series, and may not include the original cast, characters, and themes! Send a post office mail to the Universal Entertainment Group! For more information, visit our Battlestar Galactica revival information page.

Boycott Commercial Advertisers of the Sci-Fi Channel

A brand-new web site has launched to support a boycott of commercial advertisers on the Sci-Fi Channel (and Vivendi-Universal, USA Networks/Studios USA). Fans are encouraged to visit the new site, and boycott any sponsor of the "Battlestar Galactica" re-imagining mini-series scheduled for the Sci-Fi Channel in 2003. The boycott site includes a link to the new Battlestar Galactica Sci-Fi Advertiser Boycott Petition (which we've also included in the list of primary petitions, below.) Also, the site features an extensive list of current advertisers on the Sci-Fi Channel, as well as a form letter that you can utilize. Help support the boycott of sponsors, and spread the word!

Sign the five primary Battlestar Galactica Online Petitions

The five primary Battlestar Galactica Online Petitions are available for you to sign and show your support for Battlestar Galactica. The five petitions listed here are endorsed by BattlestarGalactica.com. Petition #1 is the Battlestar Galactica Revival Petition to signal the sincere hopes that original cast members (and their characters) be considered for regular roles in the new Battlestar Galactica pilot/ongoing series. Petition #2 is the Battlestar Galactica DVD Petition to urge Vivendi Universal and Studios USA to seriously consider the release of ALL episodes of the original Battlestar Galactica television series on DVD/VHS formats. Petition #3 is the Battlestar Galactica New Series Petition aimed directly at the current Sci-Fi Channel happenings and utilizes stronger wording. Petition #4 is the Battlestar Galactica Fight for Survival Petition to support the new Battlestar Galactica production only if it is done right with direct linage of the original series and includes core members of the original cast in their original roles and includes the original Galactica ship. Petition #5 is the Battlestar Galactica Sci-Fi Advertiser Boycott Petition and states that the thousands of fans are left little choice but to fight back in the only way left to us. We will vote with our wallets and pocketbooks. To those advertisers on the Sci-Fi Channel, we caution you: Beware! We will boycott your advertised products for a period of two years if you sponsor the Battlestar Galactica re-imagining on the Sci-Fi Channel. These are five petitions that are endorsed by BattlestarGalactica.com and BattlestarPegasus.com. You can make a difference by signing the petitions yourself, and be sure to alert your family, friends, and fellow fans as well to visit BattlestarGalactica.com and sign the petitions!

Sign the four additional Battlestar Galactica Online Petitions

The four additional Battlestar Galactica Online Petitions are also available for you to sign and show your support for Battlestar Galactica. The Battlestar Galactica Richard Hatch Petition respectfully requests that Richard Hatch make his trailer, "Battlestar Galactica: The Second Coming" available to be shown on the Internet. Richard Hatch -IS- listening! If you agree with the petition, then sign the petition to make your voice heard. The Battlestar Galactica Sci-Fi Management Petition requests a change in management at the Sci-Fi Channel. The petition urges the Sci-Fi Channel to focus more on sci-fi programming, including Battlestar Galactica, instead of broadcasting non sci-fi television shows, or axing sci-fi shows that have done well, such as Lexx and Farscape. The Battlestar Galactica Save Starbuck Petition is a humorous petition, but for a serious matter: Ron Moore's new Battlestar Galactica mini-series script for the Sci-Fi Channel calls for Starbuck to become a female! Starbuck, one of the original series' most popular characters, becomes Kara "Starbuck" Thrace in the new mini-series, and "Starbuck" is merely her radio call sign. If you want Starbuck to remain a male and make your voice heard, be sure to sign the Battlestar Galactica Save Starbuck Petition. Finally, the Battlestar Galactica No Re-Imagining Petition is a succinct petition that supports Richard Hatch's "Battlestar Galactica: The Second Coming" continuation concept over the Ron Moore re-imagining felgercarb. You can make a difference, so be sure to sign the four additional petitions, after you sign the five primary petitions!

Articles and Fan Fiction

Fourth Week of March, 2003

I'm happy to announce that all of the interactive storylines & role-playing game notes from Delphi Forums have been uploaded to our web site in the "Articles & Fan Fiction" section. This was a major project I've been working on over the past six months. Since Delphi Forums does not have the ability to export notes, all notes had to be manually copy-and-pasted, twenty notes at a time, into text files and then cleaned up with Microsoft Word. All notes have been posted to our web site in paragraph form. This means that all tabs, indents, and line breaks in each note have been replaced with a single space. That way each note from Delphi Forums only takes up one paragraph on the web site. This will make it a lot easier for newcomers and visitors to read our notes from Delphi, which are now classified as fan fiction. Also, personal signatures from Delphi have been removed from each note as well. Other than the spacing updates and removal of account signatures, all notes are otherwise intact. Each note will appear as originally written, and this includes any typos and spelling errors. Since there are thousands upon thousands of notes now published on our web site, I thought it better to keep all notes in the authors original format, rather than attempt to correct any spelling or grammatical errors. All interactive storylines & role-playing game notes from Delphi Forums were included in this project so there are no missing topics. Enjoy! Note: Our former 4-year home on DelphiForums.com had 8,590 posts from its opening day of 6/6/1998 to its closing day of 4/6/2002. Of the 8,590 posts, 4,726 notes were role-playing game notes, and 3,864 notes were other discussion notes.

From The Council Of 12: General Order #001

New report from peter noble on the Council of the Twelve at ColonialFleets.com: "During the weeks and months we will need everyone's support and participation in a number of schemes to keep the dream alive. We've dreamed the dream for 25 years, who says we have to give up our dream! Now, one thing that has been happening is Alpha Squadron. This was formed initially to write letters to sponsors in support of the sponsor boycott. We still need volunteers to do this to make it work. But Alpha will be flying other missions that will include information gathering and first contact with other science-fiction fans. To do this we need all the warriors we can get! So if you're interested PLEASE contact jjrackman (post in the Alpha Squadron thread at the Galactica Cafe)." Bryan Singer Talks Galactica

New report from bishop37 at the Cylon Alliance Forums: "From the UK magazine Dreamwatch: Q: As you were working on X-Men 2 you were juggling other SF projects. We know you can't talk about either the one you're developing for Universal or the mini-series, but can you talk about Battlestar Galactica A: That is being done independent of me at USA [Network]. I haven't really followed it. It was something I explored. I hired [X-Men 2 designer] Guy Dyas to design it for me. He was an illustrator and it was his first production design job. Ultimately, the window to make X-Men 2 moved up and I had to step away from Galactica. Guy created some magnificent designs and the good thing that came from it was that I broke him in as a designer on X-Men 2. I don't know if they'll use any of the designs he did for Galactica on the version of it they're doing now. I think they're doing a different story than I would have done." Many thanks to bishop37 for posting the report at Cylon.org.

Battlestar Galactica Sighting

Battlestar Galactica fan dilbertman posted a new report at Colonial Fleets: "Just saw this in the August 2003 copy of Sci Fi magazine. On page 9 there is a story about Paul G. Allen co-founder of Microsoft. He is planning to invest $10 to $20 million to build a 'cultural project' in Seattle that will seek to draw visitors into the science-fiction experience. Preliminary plans suggest that if it comes to fruition, it would be part museum, part amusement park and part little boy's fantasy. Tentatively called 'SFX: The Science Fiction Experience', the project is to fill 13,000 square feet of the exhibit space that has been part of the Experience Music Project. The sci-fi project is scheduled to open in the summer of 2004. SFX's advisory board includes writers Greg Bear, Ray Bradbury, Octavia Butler and Arthur C. Clarke. Now for the part about Galactica, one from the drawings for the museum shows a display case with a Viper Helmet from the original series."

The moderator of SubspaceBBS.com has posted a list of the fake Milton James Collective screen names that were used at his board. The list of names were discovered to be from the same 2-3 people who also faked handles at several other message boards. Here is the complete report from Dennis: "Apothis has been banned from www.subspacebbs.com for fabricating the identity 'Milton James' and some twenty other handles. This is a complete list of alternate 'handles' created and used by Apothis at Subspace. None of these ever existed other than as alternates for Apothis: Admiral Kirk, AntiHatch, Billy Keikeya, bsgbountyhunter, Captain Milton James, Captain Sulu, Cardassian, Colonial Marine, Commander Adama, Commander Kor, Cpt_ChouDi, Dualla, Gaius Baltar, General Chang, Kara Thrace, Klingon Warrior, Korg, Laura Roslin, Leoben Conoy, Number Six, Sharon Boomer Valerii, tashayar85, and William Husker Adama. Also the handle 'Slipknot' used at the Film Score Monthly site is Apothis." New announcement from Two-Brained Cylon at Cylon.org: "On 26 May 2003, The Cylon Alliance again had the pleasure of completing the second part of a two-part interview with the new Battlestar Galactica miniseries writer, Ronald D. Moore. This latter portion focused directly on fan concerns regarding the content of the production, the methodology of the miniseries, and events affecting the fanbase. Throughout both parts of this interview I gave Mr. Moore the opportunity to avoid any question he thought would be uncomfortable to answer. He answered each one directly, without asking any qualifications from me. I've found his answers to be informative and helpful. I hope all off you do as well. The 'fans' were manufactured primarily by Vince Debernardi, primarily known by the handle 'SciFiMan76' and Ted Gorospe ['Apothis'], believed to be the main force behind the mythical 'Milton James'. In their honor, we are hosting their very own poster, seen below. (Click on the poster for the full sized version)."

Moore. Mr. Moore agreed to answer tough questions regarding the upcoming production and concerns expressed by the fanbase. Ladies and Gentlemen, Alpha Squadron!

New report from peter noble at Colonial Fleets: "Alpha Squadron is just one small part of the operations to fight for our show. The squadron will be lead by jjrackman, and he will select his own wingmen who will pass on his orders to the pilots in their formation! Who is jjrackman you may ask, well over the past few months he has been plugging away making a list, but that's all I will say. There are missions to be flown and Cylon a*s to be kicked!" Colonial Patch: The Ancient Connection

Hito of Colonial Fleets has made an interesting discovery regarding the Colonial Warrior Patch: "I found this totally by accident while looking for Asian geometric patterns to use in some of my artwork. The design in the center of the Galactica flight patch is based on Indian Sacred Geometry called Sri Yantra. Sri Yantra Mandala has been used as Good Luck Sacred Geometry symbol in India, China and Tibet since many hundreds of years." Ron Moore's Fan Base Confirmed to be Fraudulent

New report from Cylon.org: "Undoubtedly the most prominent miniseries news was the revealing of a fraudulent fan base supporting this production. The Ron D. Moore/Battlestar Galactica miniseries fanbase turned out to be nothing more than scores of false handles. This was important as this group, titled 'The Neos', comprised the only visible fan support this remake has gotten. All other Galactica fan bases have slightly disapproved to severely hated this remake production. Several times, including within the last week, Ron D. Moore has stated that he had no knowledge of who Milton James and the Neos are, despite their claims that they were acting in his name."

New Galactica 2003 at the Dallas Con?

New report from Jayworld at the Battlestar Galactica Club Forums: "Ben at the Dallas Sci-Fi Show is considering the possibility of inviting stars of the new mini-series to the convention. I have already posted a long message, being a registered member, explaining in a nutshell the whole sordid situation behind Universal, Sci-Fi, Ron Moore, etc. I would ask that you all please visit the site, register, and post to my message, explaining your support of the original series actors, and not supporting anything to do with the new show, if you so desire. I would ask that if you do this, to PLEASE post respectfully and give much information, such as the petition drives, fan support, etc., as Ben is a great and decent guy, and is just putting some feelers out to see what those that attend his shows would like to see." Milton's House of Cards Falls

In a surprising turn of events, most of Ron Moore's "Neo-Galactican" fan base is proved to be fabricated. Dozens of handles were cloned by just a few people. Two-Brained Cylon posted documentation of these facts at Cylon.org. The most well-known of the fake handles are: Captain Milton James, tashayar85, startrekkinbsg, Moore_Man, AntiHatch, bsgbountyhunter, William Husker Adama, Gaius Baltar, Laura Roslin, Kara Thrace, Number Six, and Cpt_ChouDi. Dozens of other handles were also falsified in this scam. Most of these fraudulent handles were from Vince Debernardi at Ingram Entertainment (SciFiMan76) and partner-in-crime Ted Gorospe at Galactica 2003 EzBoard (Apothis). For the complete report from Two-Brained Cylon, be sure to visit the following link at Cylon.org.

Sheba: A Role Model! How has Battlestar Galactica Influenced You?

New report from Battlestar Galactica fan Peter Noble: "A snippet from an Anne (Sheba) Lockhart interview from TV Zone Special #35. The actress clearly cherishes her association with the saga and is particularly proud of its positive affect on viewers. 'I have met people in cities all over the country and the world who were influenced by Sheba,' she declares. 'I had a woman come up to me and tell me that she decided to learn to fly a plane because of Sheba. And the woman had become a commercial airline pilot! It's wonderful to have done something that has influenced people's lives 20 years down the road.'" Have you been influenced in a positive way by the original Battlestar Galactica? If so, post a reply to Peter Noble at the Battlestar Galactica Club Forums.

Various Dirk/BSG categories and I'm hoping to get a BSG chat going one night a week for anyone who's interested in joining me. Like CF, you'll need to register, but it's free. Commander Cain Will Return?

New report from Scifiman76 of Galactica2003.net: "We have learned today that Ron Moore had submitted an outline to the network for the proposed series last week. In the outline, Commander Cain will return in a new series. Stay tuned here as we find out more about the production." If the report from Scifiman76's insider contact is correct, and if the mini-series goes beyond expectations and turns into a regular series, then this could indicate the return of Commander Cain played by yet another new actor who is not related to the original series.
