Quote for the Day

This is nothing new. We've all seen these in the newspapers. I thought it might be a nice idea to start up a "column" of our own. The quote doesn't have to be 'sci-fi' related, it can be about anything.

What do you think? If you like the idea, great. If not, that's ok, too.

I'll kick it off, with this one:

Quote:

The pessimist complains about the wind.
The optomist expects it to change.
The leader adjusts the sails.

tomorrow.

I also like this idea. Here is a quote of my own:

"If your goal is to fail, then by doing so you yet manage to succede. Go figure."

The 14th Colony March 2nd, 2004 10:02 PM

Here is another of mine, related to the previous one.

If your goal is to begin, you finish just by starting.

Here is one of my favorites since I was 14

"The price of freedom is eternal vigilance"
-Thomas Jefferson

Here is one I only recently heard, though it is obviously quite old:

Always remember others may hate you, but those who hate you don't win unless you hate them.
And then you destroy yourself. -Richard M. Nixon

And BTW:
Hate leads to suffering. -Yoda

Here's one that I live by:

"the only sure thing is death and taxes!"

shiningstar March 3rd, 2004 08:43 AM

Here's mine .........I don't know who said it ......I think it was Mao sai tunsg ...........

"It's always better to light a candle then to fear the darkness."

The 14th Colony March 3rd, 2004 08:57 AM

Here is another quote of Mao sai tunsg's:

"There is more to live than simple food. So, we must invent all you can eat Chinese buffets."

shiningstar March 3rd, 2004 09:04 AM

Here's another quote .............

"Never put off tomorrow .........what you can do TODAY."

{I wish I knew who said that one. :wtf:}

bsg1fan1975 March 3rd, 2004 12:47 PM

here's one that ended up being quoted in my senior yearbook quite bit:

"If you love something set it free, if it doesn't come back to you, hunt it down and kill it!"

shiningstar, your quote isn't from Mao, it's from Confucius. The actual quote is: "It is better to light one candle than curse the darkness."

And since we're on the subject of candles, light and darkness, how about a quot that can apply to my favorite Galactica episode?

'And I said to the one who stood at the gate of the year, "Give me a light that I may tread safely into the Unknown." And he replied, "Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God. That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way."'--Minnie Haskins
